My female maltese got fixed monday and yesterday we noticed some red spots around the stiches. Im thinking its brused but my wife think it could be worse. What you think.

it sounds like brusing,my dog had the same thing the day after. touch the area and make sure it is not hot or oozing.if it is not really red or inflamed she should be ok.make sure she has a lot of fresh water and food and try to keep her quiet for a few days.if you notice her chewing or licking her wound a lot try to make her stop. as long as she is eating and not sluggish she should recover well if not call your vet.good luck.

It is probably bruising but it could be where the stitches are shrinking. Keep her from licking the incision and keep a close eye on it. If there is any yellow pus discharge, take her back to the Vet.
I wouldn't worry too much about it unless your Maltese is licking it constantly. If she is, you will want to get an E-collar to keep her away from the incision.
I have had many, many dogs spayed and have never had any problems whatsoever!

Just monitor it and make sure it doesn't get a bunch worse. There is bound to be a little inflammation around the stitches. If it starts oozing clear liquid that's OK, it's just from the healing process. (It's called serous exudate). But if she start's having a white/yellow creamy ooze that's bad. That's usually an indication of an infection, and I would take her to the vet. It's good that you're keeping track, so just keep it up. :)

My dog had the same thing, but it went way after several days. If not call the vet and ask.
