Why? Was it the desire to see TV sharper than the Human eye can see? Were you just paying too little for movies? Or are you just the betting type, riding all that money that the one you bought will be the one (if either does) that sticks around?
Perhaps you’re a big fan of the movie studio’s deciding what you can and can’t do with the media that you purchase?
Seriously though, I’m curious why someone would buy into either of these.

Most people are just fanatics of high-def, extra feature, and just have to have the next best thing. Until a disk comes out that is REALLY superior to the DVD, I'm sticking to it.

It came with the ps3 so I didn't really have a choice. But that being said I wouldn't trade it for anything. You have NO idea what you're missing until you've seen a Blue Ray DVD on a 10' widescreen in 1080p.

Of course not everything is on Blue Ray because of the HD DVD, but you can still get a standard DVD of it and the PS3 will upscale it to 1080p. Not exactly as good as Blue Ray, but still better than anything out there.

I always love how everyone always slams the new technology just because they can't afford it.

there will ALWAYS be people out there that will happily overpay to have teh cutting edge of technology

and the companies know this. and the play off it.
one other thing they play off of is the one-up-the-watsons gig
that poeple tend to go thru, that you have to have better then your neighbors, friends, or bosses.

at any rate i hear soon blu-ray will have 50 gb capacity and soon after 100gb by being able to slice the current layer in half and thus, in half again. which should be pretty interesting.
