I just read a tract that was in the auto. dept of Walmart. It said that Mormons believe Satan and God are equal Spirits. It also said that when God and Lucifer seperated three spirit catagories were created, Jesus being the third and that they all procreate "spirit" beings which inhabit babies when they are born. It said that black children are created by Satans offspring.(PLEASE DONT TAKE OFFENSE) Can you tell me if this is what you believe and if it isn't explain the three spirit thing to us?

We believe that God created all of us as spirits and we lived with Him as spirits. We have no idea how long ago. Jesus was the first born of all of God's children, spiritually. Lucifer, aka Satan, was among the first. God had a plan for us to gain bodies, have experiences, to be able to become more like Him. This plan required a Saviour and Redeemer. Jesus volunteered first, followed by Satan. Satan, however, wanted to change the plan so that he (Satan) got all the credit and glory, while Jesus would give all the credit and glory to God. God chose Jesus, and Satan became very upset. He tried to lead the other spirit children away from God. He was able to convince 1/3 to follow him (I'm not sure if that's literal or figurative 1/3) God banished Satan and his followers. They will never be able to receive a body.

I hope that helps explain our beliefs. That tract you got is not from our Church and does not correctly portray our beliefs. If you want to know more check out these sites.

Good Lord, who put out THAT garbage????

Satan and God are not EVEN equal! Lucifer was once a spirit "child" of our Heavenly Father, but when he rebelled and fell from grace and became Satan, he no longer had ANY sort of claim on anything of God's. He was and is damned.

Jesus was the first of the spirit "children" of Heavenly Father, and always was intended as the Saviour.

We are all spirit "children" of our Heavenly Father, but how our spirits were "procreated" we don't know. Only Heavenly Father has ever "procreated" any spirits.

The part where black children are created by Satan's offspring, that's SO off the stable floor, it's not EVEN funny. Satan can't procreate spirits, even if he wanted to, which he does. No, he has to try to take control of us, because he does not have a body and can't ever have one.

No matter what one's color or race, we are ALL children of our HEAVENLY FATHER. He loves ALL of His children equally! Some of our past leaders have made what today sounds like racist comments, but they were not speaking for God.

I don't know about the "three spirit" thing is. I'd have to read the whole pamphlet.

The so called tract you read is not accurate and it would seem that it comes from an "anti-Mormon" source. That can be verified by looking at the authorship of the material. At any rate, the tract you refer to appears to be inaccurate and false.

Mormons DO NOT believe that Satan and God are equal. Nothing could be further from the truth. God the Father is omnipotent and is not subjected to any one or thing that is on the same level as him. He is our God and Mormons worship him as such. There is no "seperation" of God and Lucifer as you describe. That is not Mormon doctrine. Also, the statement that black children are created by Satan's offspring is also ridiculously false and laughable. There also is no "three spirit catagories" in Mormon doctrine. That misconception my have come from the doctrine that there will be three categories or levels in the heavens after death and judgement. Those three categories where we will be judged and sent to and live eternally are mentioned in the Bible (See 1 Corinthians 15: 40-42).

That tract is NOT what we believe. Here is what we believe:

Mormons believe that God is the omnipotent power in the heavens and is our Father in Heaven. He is our spiritual father and created our spirits. He is the father of all spirits as stated in the Bible. (See Hebrews 12:9). As the father of all spirits, he is the father of Jesus and all other spirits, even the evil ones.

In the pre earth existence, in the pre mortal world before we were all born on this earth, one of those spirits, Lucifer, was evil and tried to upsurp glory and power away from God. God cast him out of heaven. (See Isaiah 14:12 and Luke 10:18) Lucifer became the devil and has since tried to tempt and torment man. Christ was also with God in the pre mortal realm. Christ agreed with God that Christ would come to the earth in the meridian of time and take upon himself all of the sins of the world and be our Redeemer.

We are all spiritual offspring of God and that includes blacks, white, and everything inbetween. We are all God's children.

I have frankly never heard anything like this. God and Lucifer are not equals, no human is Satan's offspring, and nothing can be determined by race. WHoever wrote the tract was lying with an intent to defame and deceive.

I have no clue what the three spirit thing is either. Not even a remote idea where it came from.

It sounds like you got a hold of an anti-Mormon tract.
The thing with anti tracts is that they have the smallest grain of truth to them, but the rest is absolutely false.

The grain of truth to what you posted is that Satan is real, is a spirit, and he was called Lucifer before he left Heaven. What's also real is that Jesus is real, and God is real, and both are distinct in that they each now have their own body. The third member of the Godhead is the Holy Spirit, who as the name implies does not have a physical body. God, also called Heaven Father, is the spirit Father of everyone who lived in what we call the Pre-existence. The pre-existence is where everyone was before Lucifer and those that followed him were "kicked out". A plan was laid out by Heavenly Father in which a Savior was needed. Lucifer wanted all the glory for himself (to simplify the whole thing) and a war insued. Everyone was required to choose either God's plan, or Lucifer's plan. Those that chose Lucifer's plan (which included doing away with the ability to chose whether to follow God, or not) were kicked out of Heaven, never to recieve a physical body (which is required for one to even have a chance at returning to Heavenly Father's presence). We were all there, and were valiant and chose to follow Heavenly Father's plan - we know this because we were born. A person's skin color does NOT have anything to do with worthiness, nor is it any indication of anything except where they were born on the planet, or where their ancestors were born on the planet. To put it point blank, we do not believe that Black people were created by or inhabited by Satan or any of his followers. The fact that we had a man who said something sort of similar to that well over 100 years ago, who also happened to be the President of the church, just means that everyone is human and makes mistakes and that no one - not even the President of the church goes through life without saying something before all the facts are in. Given the culture of the time, and the commonly held beliefs and science of the time, a lot of incorrect things were said and believed that we now know to be false. That's the beauty of progress and time... things never stand still, they're always moving and we always have new stuff to learn that shatters previously sound scientific knowledge. (For example, at one time it was thought that fly's were created by rotten food - it was a commonly held belief proven by the fact that within a short amount flys appeared on the rotton food where none were earlier. It doesn't mean that's the way it really is, but it was the widely held belief of the time.)

I'm not aware of a three spirit thing. I am aware of three levels of Heaven, three members of the Godhead, three forms of existence, and perhaps it is the latter that the authors of the tract you read were referencing. There is the Pre-existence, which I've mentioned already, there is the mortal existence, which is now, and there is the eternal existence which is what everyone usually thinks of as living in Heaven - where the body and spirit are reunited never to be seperated again. Those are the three broad levels of existence, although there is that time after we die physically but before our body and spirit are reunited eternally, and that too is a time of significance.

Also, the fact that this tract was in Walmart on display or even just sitting on a seat or table, should be an indication that it is not from us. We stopped leaving tracts in public places long ago, now our missionaries may offer you a Book of Mormon or a pamphlet when they meet with you, but they aren't left in places of business.

South Park is a satire and parody of yank existence, and as such could be referred to as not something extra. for particular, the two 'parody' and 'satire' varieties of humor are based unquestionably, or as Rod Serling used to assert "The 'Twilight Zone' is genuine existence toned down a touch." of direction a mormon interpretation is it is all distortions, lies, anti-mormon propaganda and yet another style of 'persecution' and yet another clarification why the church is genuine because of the fact of exhibits like South Park...

That is not correct at all. We Believe that God the Father, His Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost have always been and will always be separate beings. Satan is also a separate spirit and he always has been. Satan and Jesus and God the Father are not equal beings. Satan was cast out of God's presence for rebellion and will never be able to receive exaltation.

Your best bet to fully understand this is to visit www.Mormon.org and click the "ask a question" link. You are able to chat with a live member who should be able to more fully explain this too you.

Sounds to me like you found some anti-Mormon literature. In the upper left hand corner of Mormon.org- you will see the official Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints seal- if that is not on the literature that you are looking at, then chances are what you have is not factual.

I go to school and probably 70% of the people are mormon and i am black and all of them still love me. so if they did think i was created by Satan's offspring then they wouldn't like me to much but they love me! It might be because there isn't alot of black people here but i know that they love me and i am black. I hope i helped>

Mormons believe that Jesus and Lucifer are brothers.

What you heard was actually just a bit scrambled but pretty close to true.

They believe the Father had parents from another planet.

They believe that we are all spirit babies that have the opportunity to become gods of our own.

The Bible teaches that there is one God and we are adopted as his children if we accept Jesus as our savior.

No where does it teach that we become Gods. Cats have cats, dogs have dogs, and humans have humans.

No, that has nothing to do with LDS doctrine. I have no idea what the "three spirit thing" is, and I've been a member of the LDS church my whole life.

I would suggest you research our beliefs at www.lds.org rather than in the auto. dept of Walmart. ;-)
