Shes had a work up and this pill worked at first, we laxed abit and now she is really incontinent. I am religiously doing 4x a day----but does this work for old dogs ? or are they bound for always dribbling. I hate to see this because she'll be outside and wants to be in part of the day with us. But I can't do it . How does it end up with old old dogs? I need to prepare myself for what the future has in store.

Our 13 yo Mini Schnauzer is on Proin as well, and if she misses her doses then she leaks. So we make sure that even if she slips her other meds, she always always always gets her Proin. We give her 1/4 tablet in the morning and 1/2 tablet at night, because she seems to be more incontinent overnight than during the day.

She is also taking chlorpheneramine, which has helped with her incontinence (she was on just the chlor for a while, but we find the best results with the mixture of both of them) - you may want to ask your vet about it.

Also, waterproof crib pads (we found ours in the Baby section of Target) are a lifesaver, because they are absorbent but very washable!

Good luck!

Your dog is too old to be outside all day!! Make a place in your house, that is for your little grand-mammy (She will sooo appreciate it)!! You can put plastic under a blanket, so that it won't get wet where ever you make her place! Congratulations, for having her for sooo long!!!! I hope she lives 15 more years with great health!!!!!!!!
