no it's not true, but don't tell the illegals...

Canada will ship them back from whence they came.

Hello,

I just come back from an immigration meeting on this matter (translating for a person) in Alberta Canada. I work with the small Mexican community here.

I have seen people come in, get social assistance and temporary work visas and medical insurance whilst claiming refugee status but never once have I seen a Mexican person successfully stay. Mexico is not Darfur nor Rwanda or Iraq. Sometimes these cases can drag on for several years but ultimately, when least expecting, they get their 48 hour deportation notice.

There are two things annoying the government:

1) You ask for refugee status at point of entry - not after several weeks or two months as a tourist.

2) Gangsters and thugs do not pick on your middle to lower middle income or poor people as a rule. You get into problems with them if you are involved in drugs, a police informant or borrow money and cannot pay it back to them.
These people are not the same as genocidal warlords so claims made like this are not good ones that are easily believed.

Our CBC news interviewed the Minister Of Immigration and he assured this situation will be soon rectified.

Cheers,

Michael Kelly

Nope, Canada turns many of them back immediately and if they do get to present a case they will get a temporary work visa, only to get deported after a year or so.

Scam artists were telling this lie to take advantage of the illegal immigrants. They charged them for help with their applications. Canadian officials say that scams like that pop up every once in a while.

Some news sources are more clear and accurate than others. Fox is very sensational. It's exciting, but more concerned with entertaining, to get ratings, than informing.

I am also Canadian and can tell you that it is NOT true. kind of funny that all the people with the correct answers had the most thumbs down. ridiculous kids trying to cite fox news as their source. you cannot rely of fox news for the truth.

Scammer at work in Florida is advertising this and will fill out the papers for $400. These refugee claims are a joke, the scammers use the same story over and over.

And no they don't get a work visa and money. They will get housed in some seedy motel until their claim is denied, and then they're deported.

Completely bogus as far as LEGALLY obtaining a means of support. There are numerous people who would employ an illegal person but at a vastly reduced wage and in poor conditions just as they would in just about any other country on earth. There is no such thing as a free lunch even in soft hearted (mugs) countries like Canada. You would recieve assistance until such times as the authorities determined your legal status and then it would sling your sorry *** on a plane back to where you had originated from. If it did not sling the same sorry *** in jail first.

Rosey is wrong. Just show up in Canada and claim you are a refugee. While they figure it out in the court (currently takes 2 years) you get free health care, welfare, a legal work visa.
Check it out on Fox News TV. The Canadians are very upset that ths is getting out.

It's TRUE for all of you doubters.
Check the Fox News web site.

It was on FOX tv this morning. It's no lie!
Illegals are flocking to Detroit or heading to Vancouver and going to Canada.

When Mexicans were asked in Windsor, Ontario, if they get benefits, they said "Si" and all they have to do is produce a citizenship paper from anywhere to start receiving immediate cash, housing, health care and food!

But don't take my word for it, read for yourself:

It's a scam by a guy in Florida. Pay $400, they fill out a refugee form and put you on a bus to Canada. Problem is they don't meet criteria.

Economic refugee - PLEASE!
