somebody help please ps3 problem?

hi there...well i had a big problem yesterday..i was gonna play my ps3 and i decided to check the syste,msettings and i found a setting that said switch to another system or something like that and the thing is that i switched and two pinguins showed at the screen and then it started loading some stuff but i waited and it frozed up..so i could not turned it off so i had to umplugged thr cable and then when i tryied to play again it doesnt do anything ..its just like nothing happens ...does anybody knows what that is? o if i messed it up? i hope i didint ...thanx

Sounds like you formatted the harddrive in the machine to attempt to load a different OS or boot into a different OS. The penguins are indicative of Linux (OS of the PS3), but not sure if that's the screen you saw or not. What I'd do is unplug the machine from power for about 2 minutes and then try to boot it again, and see what happens. If it doesn't boot to the PS3 OS this time around then you may want to call Sony, they may be able to send you somewhere on the web to get the system software, you may have to download it on your computer, burn it to cd and then reinstall it.

You probably tried to install Linux OS. Your PS3 isn't totally messed up, but your HDD needs to be reformatted at the service - take console there. Or try to press and hold power button until it beeps - this resets console to factory settings.

You said penguins should on the screen????? Look in your manual there is a way to reset the system...No worries...

If you bought your ps3 in the first wave of them that came out you can contact sony and they will fix it free. The first wave of product have came out with many problems!!
