from what you describe, you have a pinched nerve. Best to be seen by someone like a chiropractor that can xray your neck/spine to see if you compressed a disk or other physical injury causing the pinch.

Sometimes they can fix the problem with adjustments, sometimes it will require meds, sometimes in extreme cases it will require surgery (like if you ruptured a disc)

Usually, one of your intervertebral discs gets inflamed, and the associated muscles get irritated. You end up in a catch 22 because the muscles are irritated from the inflamation, and the inflamation wont go away because the muscles are holding tension on the joint. This is where manual manipulation and meds can help...but it isn't overnight.

You can adjust someones spine and "shove" the vertibrae into alignment, but the muscles and cartilidge have memory issues and will slip back out of alignment easily without further treatment.

One of the other answers that suggested accupuncture is good too. It will interfere with the nerve signal that won't allow your muscle to relax. Once relaxed it is easier to keep the spine aligned.

One of the major causes of back /neck pain is poor posture. One of the major causes of poor posture is a weak core muscle group (back and abs). Just another good reason to stay in shape.

Your speaking about the cervical spine and the lower lumbar spine. The first thing to note is to find out what the problem is before you do anything, this includes acupuncture, something like this is only a temporary relief to start with, not a cure.
First: see your primary doctor, he/she will either take X-Rays and/or MRI's, they be read be an radiologist and you'll get that information as to what the next step will entail. This might mean a trip to an orthopedic surgeon for an examination.
You may have either an herniated disc, a bulging disc, a type of arthritis or rheumatism or any number or type of bone disease. This all has to be addressed and taken care of before you can be sent to anyone and have treatment, this also includes a chiropractor. Until you know what's wrong, you'll have to be patient.

I've suffered for many years with osteo-arthritis in the severe degenerative stages. I have 32 wires and 32 screws along with cages in my spine. After years of suffering and drugs I'm finally getting a spinal implant, electrical, that will control the pain. After the initial trial I found relief for the first time in thirteen years.

Drugs are only a temporary relief between the pain symptoms, don't make a habit for them, this could be dangerous. Address the situation and get treatment, whether surgery or whatever the doctor suggests.

You have a pinched radial nerve. It is the Rhombiodeus major muscle that is between your shoulder blades that is giving you grief. What you need to do in get in the shower and have hot water beat down on that area for about 10 min. Then ice it. Do this 6 to 8 times per day and you will get some relief. If you are taking any ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, ect..) stop. If you are able, stretch. Then stretch some more. Eventually the numbness will go away in about 2 weeks. For the neck area you can do the same thing, but I would look at your shoes for being the culprit unless it is an injury. Good quality supportive shoes are ideal for the back and neck.

Try a chiropractor. Best thing I ever did. Made me feel 10 years younger. They can give you info on how taking care of your spinal column is so important and how misalignment can cause pain in different areas.

Are you old enough to have heart problems? Hmm. First of all, keep warm enough in bed with maybe a cozy scarf. But the arm numbness may be circulatory problem?

Unless you want voodoo, you first find out what is causing it and see whether the source can be worked on.

Recent research and my own experience say that acupuncture is the most effective treatment. I highly recommend it.
