Well God did make heaven wonderful. We do not know how long Lucifer was in heaven before he sinned. It could have been eons. This is comparable to the man who has a beautiful wife and still cheats on her. No matter what was in heaven, Lucifer would still rebel because pride grew in his heart. He wanted to be worshiped like God was worshiped.

Being created perfect does not mean that one can not rebel. For every creature that God created perfect, he also gave them free will. For a time unspecified in scripture, the angel that would eventually become known as Satan was a faithful worhsipper of Jehovah God, in fact he was the steward of the Garden of Eden over our human parents Adam and Eve. He made a personal choice to defy God. Other angels then exercised their free will and joined with him in their rebellion. Obviously this was a small minority. And soon now, after it has been shown that man can not rule himself effectively without God, Satan and his demons will be destroyed, and all will have to know that Jehovah alone is the Most High over all the Earth.

It's a myth and a metaphor. We can learn from these teachings and many people (including many who have answered your question) take it literally. If one does take it literally I agree that it is difficult to explain. But as a creation myth it makes a lot of sense. There are many ways to believe in something greater than ourselves. A belief in a sentient God is one way. However, we also need to learn about ourselves (and here we learn the ancient axiom, Pride goeth before the fall) religious and spiritual teachings help us with that. Some would say God helps us with that. Others believe we can learn from nature without the need for a God. Each of us must explore and figure that out for ourselves.

Good question, never thought about it before.
Let's say you and me live on the same island and let's say I'm smarter and reacher then you plus: I'll be your boss. What would you do then? Well... I guess you'll probably rebel against me. And that's because you don't love me. Hey, maybe that's why God's greatest commandment is:
"Jesus answered, "The foremost is, 'HEAR, O ISRAEL! THE LORD OUR GOD IS ONE LORD;
AND YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH.'
"The second is this, '(U)YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.' There is no other commandment greater than these."
(Mark 12:29-31)

You provide a very good and mis-informed question.
Its based on the idea good people go to heaven.
Not true.
Heaven is not our place, not now, not later.
Psalm 37:29 outlines our place.
'Lucifer', as you call him (not a Biblical appellation) did not leave heaven because it was a terrible place.
He went after, covetously, something that wasn't his ....and he got booted out.
Revelation 12:7 describes said booting.
What was he covetously seeking after?
Worship.
Only God gets worship.

I read/heard once that those quotes from 'Lion of Judea' were really in reference to an ancient Babylonian king named Lucifer.
I really, really like that name-Lucifer-.

Analogy:
Toay, we have crime bosses, gang leaders, bullies in school. These people do the same as Lucifer and his band of 'merry' angels.
What is their motivation?

Particularly when the "house rules" of heaven say that sinning (i.e.; going against God's will) is impossible there in the first place...

desire to be like God! Jealousy and pride, greedy of power and selfish desire!
one thing we should know that God created Satan and those angel with freedom of choice but they abuse it. and why would he make them that way if he can make them like robots to follow every single thing He wants them to do? Because Jehovah God is love and as loving father He much happier to hear his sons saying I love you father because they truly love Him and not because He want him to do so!
