I met this guy, and we've been dating a 2 months.
I've already met his parents several times, but he's invited me to a family dinner this weeked (his cousins are in from Europe). It's at his grandmom's house and she is doing all the cooking (appatizers thru dessert).
He insists I shouldn't bring anything, but what does ettiquette call for? I brought flowers and dessert for his mom before, but should i get something for the extended family? I don't want to insult anyone, but I don't want to look rude either! >_<

I would ask this question of his Mom. Not only will you get a better (more honest answer), but it will score you some points with her even if she says not to bring anything...

I always bring something, not because I have to but because it's nice and polite. As long as it is inexpensive, it will score points (spend to much and his parents will feel bad). Flowers would be lovely- or call his mom and say you want to bring dessert. My friend brought homebaked bars to my dinner a few weeks ago, which was very personal.

When invited to a dinner, you usually take something for the host and hostess not everyone attending. Flowers and/or a bottle of wine are the norm.

Since it is several people, I would bring a couple bottles of wine. You can all enjoy them with the meal or have them as cocktails before the meal.

Bring something...flowers, candy, dessert...you'll be more respected for respecting them and the invitation...
