It's not a contradiction anymore than a Christian having cancer and going to a doctor is a contradiction. That's like saying to someone who is in a burning building, don't take the exit from the building, just stand there and pray God will save you.
There is nothing wrong with going to doctors. God has given us knowledge to use to better our lives. And many depressions have to do with a chemical imbalance in the body. Do I think nothing is impossible for God? Of course I do. I also have no problem with a terribly sick person getting help from medicine.

God lets us utilize whatever resources we have . Depression can be situational or a chemical imbalance. It can be both.
Christians can be depressed . It is a sickness , no different from the flu , cancer , leukemia . It requires treatment. Mental illness can be treated by medicine and therapy. God may also heal people through prayer. We do not know why some get healing and others do not. We do know that it can happen. I guess the missing part if FAITH ?

Have you read the Bible ?
Many of the great men of the Bible were depressed.
To name a few:
Elijah- He killed over 400 false prophets,But because of the threat of One woman Jezebel, He ran and hid and a great depression overcame him.
David- a man after God's own heart. In Psalms he asked God, Why is my soul cast down ?
There Is nothing wrong with using medicine. Luke was a physican.
Who do you think gave these people the wisdom, ability & knowledge to accomplish these things ? God .
However, they aren't to be abused, but use Godly wisdom and be lead of the Holy Spirit In taking any medications.

No. Those who do are just unfortunate victims of the materialist lie that all our problems are materially-generated and so therefore, materially ameliorated. Depression is merely the heart's way of telling you it's sad because you're living a lie. And if you know anything about Jesus' teachings, one of the most important little clues he left us is that God is within your heart. I think that people in this forum who pose these kinds of questions are simply people with personal problems and inferiority complexes, trying to show off at how clever they can be while, like the good sheep they are, bashing good people because it's all the rage and it's real easy to make yourself feel good by gang raping someone when you know they aren't going to fight back. Okay. We're aaaaaall reaaaaaaal impressed. Now go pick on something your own size, like Global Warming, tsunamis, earthquakes, the Middle East, youth violence, homelessness, infants getting penises inserted into their orifices while people masturbate to the video on child porn sites, and all the other boons to existence that the materialist religion has so generously donated to the human condition, since you're all so clever. "Peace, Love, Dope!"

ya he is true God made people including doctors, nurses and such and he gives them ideas, The world is not perfect and its not supposed to be perfect its kinda like a test. But anyway he gives all the scientists ideas when it is there time so a pill comes out but i wouldnt ponder too much over stuff like this. People tend to overthink things too often. However I would say that the only truely helpful medicine is natural medicine

Depression is a chemical imbalance and needs to be treated both with medication and therapy. There are a lot of therapists that are Christians, as well. If a person is ill, a person should take care of their sickness. Our bodies are our temples and God created us in his image. God wouldn't want us to not seek help.

So God doesn't want us to have a blood transfusion after an accident ? Or use antibiotics for an infection?
Of coarse he does. At least I think he does.
Medication for depression is sometimes very helpful. I think God wants us to be healthy. And to take advantage of the help that modern medicine can offer.

Would a Christian not take antibiotics if he was physically sick? Of course he would and it has nothing to do with a lack of faith in God. In the same way, Christians should take medication if they are mentally ill. I knew a christian man a beautiful wife and three young daughters. He was active in the church and he killed himself. I'm sure his wife and daughters would have been glad if he had taking antidepressants.

It depends if the issue is a chemical imbalance such as biopolar or if it's something you can work through.
Depression itself is usually temporary, and pills are supposed to be a temporary crutch to get you through it.
I don't take pills unless there's a proven chemical imbalance or other ailment that can be directly cured.
