In order to lose fat on your legs you must perform both aerobic and anaerobic exercise. For anaerobic exercise, you need to perform endurance resistance training. Basically it's lifting less weight with more repetitions. Endurance exercise will tone your muscles. An easy endurance exercise is squatting (your own body will be the weight) as low as you can with your knees not crossing over you toes. Perform 4 sets of 16-25. This would work out your quadriceps as well as your glut min/max.
In order to tone the muscles on the side of your thighs, its best to use the ad/abductor machine. Again, less weight, more repetitions. Perform these anaerobic exercises once ever other day.

Aerobic exercise: The best way to lose the fat around your lower extremities would be to run/jog. In order to establish how fast you should go, you must be able to speak a little bit without getting out of breath. After a while, you can perform this exercise every day.

Remember you need to stretch both before and after exercise as well as consuming potassium (found in bananas) to prevent the soreness.

When I first started doing squats this past summer, in 2 days I couldn't move my legs at all! It hurt to walk up & down the stairs and just about walk around the house. I read somewhere (I think on here) that eating a banana after working out helps reduce the pain, and it acutally does.

Hope this helps!

work out different muscles besides your lower body muscles. it should take 4 or 5 days to get rid of the pain. once you do squats consistently the recovery time is quicker.
you should probably do squats once every 5 to 7 days. you should be focusing more on cardio than anything if you are looking to lose fat.

squatting alone is not going to help you lose fat in your legs but help build up muscle. you need to take a day of rest between hard muscle workouts. you can take an over the counter pain reliever but you need to wait one day to work out again.
