My cat is about/almost 8 years old.
Recently, she's been seeking more attention than normal. She used to be EvilKitty, the one you'd want to avoid because she'd wiggle and scratch.
She's now crawling into laps, letting herself be petted and brushed and sleeping with me.
Could she just be getting old and lovely? Or is she behaving like this cause she managed to lose her collar and is appreciative - when she was E.K she always had a collar on.
I'm not complaining, I just find it intriguing.

Though she's not old, cats aged 8+ are classed as seniors, so if she hasn't been seen by a vet recently it worth taking her for a check up. Sometimes a drastic change in behaviour can be an attempt to let you know they need help.

It could of course simply be that she's mellowing with age. Older cats tend to be less physically active and focus more of their attention on their owners than younger cats. They often become more dependent upon us emotionally with age, as the bond between you grows stronger.

It's lovely having an affectionate cat, and I hope you have many happy years ahead of you together.

A cat's temperament and behaviors will change as they get older. I have an older cat who used to be extremely loving when he was younger but prefers solitude in his old age. My sister's cat used to never make a 'mess' on the carpet when he was younger but in his old age he has made a habit of it. I would recommend doing some research and keeping an eye out for any other changes because they could be indicative of an illness prevalent in older cats.

Was it a flea collar? Some cats can react badly to the chemicals.

We have an EK too ... not collar problems - just a wee bit scary LOL

It could very well be that she is getting older- and your lap is warm. But sometimes a kitty who isn't feeling well asks for attention because she wants to feel better.

Ask your vet about it at her next scheduled check-up.

Good luck!

Most kitties do get more affectionate with age. Enjoy her. She sounds really sweet.

tigger may be right, behavioral change like that may be because something is wrong. or your kitty is just happier now for some reason.
