I was a corrections officer for over 12 years in Michigan. Your basic function is to supervise and maintain order amongst inmates. It is similar to babysitting per se. You are also responsible for log book entries, making rounds, doing head counts, firearm training, marching, restraints, driving, policies. It is a good job and most of the time fun. Plus it pays well and good benefits. Im disabled now due to injury....

As far as I know correction officers run the jails. They are the ones that watch the inmates.

correction officers work in prisons essentially as guards. but you really should focus on liberal arts topics like english and grammar before you get too worried about a major.
