He was caught by the dog catcher weekend before last and was in the pound for 2 days until it opened on Monday. He was hoarse when I got him back and they told me he woofed himself into being hoarse over the weekend. I thought his woof was coming back, so I didnt think too much about it. Well he is now really hoarse and he is not eating his dog food and I think he must be sick. I put some warm beef broth in with his dog food, and he only ate about 4 bites and left the whole pan of food. What could be wrong with my dog and should we go see the vet?

You should absolutely take him to the vet, especially where he's not eating. He may have been exposed to sick dogs while at the pound.

Yes, I would suggest going to the vet just to be sure there is nothing physically wrong.

Also, make sure to keep your dog in your yard. He should not have been out where the dog catcher could get him.

Many dogs bark in shelters, because the others dogs are barking and they have nothing else to do. Getting hoarse is a common side affect of this. However, they typically get over this once they are back home.

Your dog has went thru a tramatic experience and just like people needs to feel safe again. Dogs can bark themselves hoarse but it should be better by now.

Perhaps in catching him they could have injured his larynx... or caused some neck trauma... A trip to the vet is necessary..

Good Luck

Yes, you should take him to the vet. He could have contracted an illness while he was out running loose, or at the pound.

YES; you should take your dog to the vet just to make sure he didn't catch something from one of the other animals.

He's probably upset because you work too much and don't spend enough time with him. That's also probably why he ran off and the dog catcher caught him. Stop spending your time posting rants on Yahoo and spend a little more time with Rover.

Yes I would, you never know he may have caught something, and the vet will be able to give you something to sooth his throat, it must be real sore.
