I have 2 kitties that I am going to get fixed soon. I know they should have those collar things to prevent them from messing with the incisions, however since there are 2 of them I am afraid they might mess with each other.

Has anyone had a problem with 2 kitties, in the same household, recovering after getting fixed? Should they be separated? Any info will help. Thanks!

You should not have to put collars on the cats after the surgery. If the cats are young it is a small incision with only one or two stitches. They heal quickly and they will not bother each other's incisions. The vet will tell you to keep them calm, not let them jump around and play too roughly but it has been my experience to just let them alone. The cat won't do anything that hurts itself. They will play and still jump on small things like the couch or a chair. You should have no problems at all doing them at the same time.

Good luck and good for you, choosing to have your animals spayed/neutered. It is a very responsible decision and I applaud you.

I've been in a similar position.

Presently, I have a pair of cats, a brother and sister of the same litter. My husband and I have had their medical procedures all done at the same time because it's simply easier to keep track of them. When we took them to get them fixed, we really didn't have to watch them that much, other than to make sure the incisions didn't get infected.

During the first few days, they'll be feeling pretty icky and groggy from the medicine and the surgeries. So they'll be sleeping more than they do anything else.

Good luck!

I have two female kittens that will be fixed at the same time if I can (since one keeps going in heat and my vet wont fix unless she isn't) I couldn't possibly separate them as they would go crazy crying for eachother. They are sister cats and have been together since the beginning and one can cope without the other, but the second has to have her sister or she will cry till she finds her. I have been looking into fixing process and from my questions it shouldn't be too bad. You'll just have to watch them and see how they react to it, as all cats have their own personalities, then go from there.

I had 2 sets of male and female kittens fixed together and never had any trouble. You should watch yours to make sure. If you see them "helping" each other out, then seperate. The male will recover sooner than the female and in about 3-4 days, it should be over for both of them.

I do whole litters at a time sometimes two litters. Most likelyyou will not need the collar. However; I do it at 8 weeks when the incesion is less than a 1/4 of an inch and only need one stitch

I just got 5 cats fixed, so they r fine wit each other, they don't bother their booboos either. everything has worked otu, just make sure that the cats have stuff to keep them busy, although t first they will be very sore and tired. also my female cats always would fight before they got spayed and now they could care less about each other, they even clean one another, great turn outs. so atcaully it may help, also before they go give them both baths at the same time, after they will have the same smell and won't fight. i have tired this and it really does work!!!

Shouldn't be a problem.
If worried, separate cats in different rooms with litter pans, until a few days after.
