If I know alot of people say they have conversations with God. What I want to know is, what does he sound like? Does it sound like the voice you use for your inner monologue? Or do you actually hear a booming God-like voice?

Not if he doesn't want five across the eyes.

(Sorry, it had to be said.)

Yes God does talk back to you, the problem is that you are trying to stereotype the reply. Stop everything for the moment and just listen, become a resepticle, the answers my friend comes in differnt forms like in the word of the song you hear, the book, magazine or newspaper you pick up, the movie you are watching, the stranger you just met and had a conversation with, the people you know and talk to, me replying to your question , your gut feeling or instinct, just about anything but are you listening my friend. It may even be that booming voice you mentioned, will it scare you away or will you choose to listen, always (all ways) its your choice.

Most do not hear any audible voice from God, and if they do, it may be due to psychosis or delusion. However, God does speak to us through others. You know the minute someone says something to you and it goes straight to the heart or conscience of the listener. Animals, babies and even angels can get God's messages across. Music can also speak to us and is why even autistics can produce it with wonder. I hear God in the roar of the ocean or thunder or hurricane, as well as the crash of a waterfall, and the rustling of the leaves in old growth forest.

He speaks through my priest at Mass each day. But that's not what you're asking. You want to know what God's actual speaking voice sounds like.

Well, I don't know what He personally sounds like. But I do know He answers my questions through meditation during the hour I have set aside to be alone with Him. In that Holy Hour, I tell Him my problems and ask Him for help in finding a resolution. I know that the answers aren't always going to be what I want them to be. But it feels good unburdening myself to Him.

I also tell Him about the good things in my life and thank Him for being with me and blessing me with His Presence. Just anything that comes to mind. I know He is there. I don't need an audible voice to tell me that.

He speaks to us all through His Word, the Holy Bible. And any other way we need at the time.

1 Kings 19:11 And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake:
12 And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.

His voice can sound like an inner voice that we are accustomed to hearing, a friend or relative's voice, or just a comforting voice that is instinctively known as God.

God speaks primarily through His word. You are looking for an answer and you come to a passage that just jumps out at you. Sometimes He speaks to me through other religious writing. But on rare occasions, I have heard the still small voice that pushes me in the direction God wants me to go.

Yes-not in a audible voice, but through His Word, & the inner promptings of His Holy Spirit.

I hear God ... and the Angels. But in my case, I don't hear actuall words. (that can be annoying, sometimes) What I get are ideas ... and you just simply KNOW that it wasn't you that came up with that. And they can answer some pretty big questions for you ... ever 'slept on it' and came up with an answer in the morning? That's it right there.

Did you know that angels tell jokes??? :)
