Why do athiest claim they come from mokies? I mean, if I came from a mokey, I wouldnt go around telling everyone that. Even if they win the argument, they still came from a monkey.

But a Christian is arguing he came from God, the one who created everyting.

I have yet to see on the news that a monkey turned into a person. Or a dog turned into a cow or anything like this.

I mean, are they for real with that belief?

What the hell is a "mokie"?

Atheists are usually educated people who aren't afraid to ask questions. Who created god? Are we really expected to believe there was a talking burning bush? Why is there so much suffering in the world if we were created equal in god's eyes? How can there be so many religions and gods? Is it possible there is another answer? When I ask god a question why does he not answer back? Why doesn't god let us know he exist with some kind of proof?

Religion was created to calm worried children about life and death and also scare them into being a functioning member of society by being fearful of god. This is a similar concept to the Tooth Fairy and Santa Claus. Unfortunately, parents always forget to tell their children that god is not real. Religion is still an effective tool for teaching children right from wrong but it is still amazing how many parents forget to tell their children that god does not exist.

Atheists believe in the only logical answer: Mutations and evolution. Have you ever seen a flounder? That fish alone offers proof that animals mutate and evolve.

Why can "Christians" not even tell the difference between a monkey and an ape?

Is it so hard to tell something that has a tail from something else that does not? You would think that a first grader can figure that one out... but apparently certain Christians can't.

By the way... Christians did not come from God. According to the bible MAN, in particular Adam came from the earth from which he was formed by God. Eve came from Adam. Neither were Christians. They were not even Jews. They were just MAN. A few chapters later we learn that there were plenty of people around besides Adam and Eve. They were no Christians, either. There weren't any Jews in a religious sense until way later, when God made a covenant with man.
And even then nobody was a Christian... not until Christ was born, grew up, selected his apostles and found followers. The oldest of Christians were born merely 2000 years ago. Which, even in Christian mythology (not theology) is less than one third of the age of the world.

Good luck passing your theology exam, though!

Well a dog wouldn't turn into a cow. Humans came from a species similar to chimapanzees but not the same species. Just because one evolves does not mean the other will evolve, so your argument is invalid. Evolution has been proving through observation and DNA analysis.

And if they win the argument, then that means all humans came from something similar to a chimpanzee not just them. It includes you.

Why are christians and other religions so closed minded that they cannot allow for anything else. What proof do you have of god? I leave open the possibility of some greater being, but I certainly don't belive in religion which is man made.

Well, there is a lot wrong with what athiests believe. Even Darwin said that evolution was only a theory and that there was no evidence that it was actually true. To me, it seems much more far-fetched to believe that we all evolved from a couple of micro-organisms or atoms that collided in space. Even if that were true, where do they think those micro-organisms or atoms came from? The Big Bang theory is about as plausible as a tornado ripping through a junk yard and leaving behind a fully functional 747.

Man's nature is prideful and selfish, and he tends to require reasonable explanations for things. If he cannot find a way to explain something, he feels somewhat inferior. An athiest doesn't want to be accountable to God or recognize that they need His grace and forgiveness. For them, ignoring God's existence allows them to suppress any feelings of accountability. They live for the here and now, which Christians know is only temporary.

It's really too bad. Athiests are missing out on true joy; deep, abiding love and eternal life. If they were to ever truly delve into God's Word with an open heart and a willingness to believe, studying it and understanding how each part interrelates historically, they would be changed forever.

This reminds me of the argument a guy I worked with came up with. "See, if you're a Christian, you've got nothing to loose, right?" Oh, okay, so I should become a Christian just in case??????? Ummm... if God is out there, he'd see through that argument, right? So I'm screwed either way.

First off, I didn't come "from a mokey" (what is a mokey anyway?) I came about as a result of my parents getting together and doing the horizontal shuffle.

Get this through your head--people who don't believe in God don't believe in God because they see no evidence of his existence! They believe in the theory of evolution because the evidence overwhelmingly supports the theory! If Christians are right, atheists, agnostics, Jews, Muslims, Hindus, etc. are going to hell. However, if they are wrong, life on Earth evolved, and no amount of faith can change that. End of story, whether you like it or not.

Not an atheist, but let me help you out a little. Nature dictates that we are, in our current form, the result of natural selection. It doesn't say that we are monkeys, what it means is we evolved from a branch of life that produced primates. How can it be shameful to have common ancestry with another creature of this earth. This isn't just a thought pulled out of the air, we share DNA.

Why does man have a brain if we aren't meant to learn the truth about our origins. Our species has gone through multitudes of changes before we landed here. We will continue to evolve as long as we are alive. A million years from now we may barely resemble modern homosapiens. Our descendants might look at us as though we were apes.

If I came from a "mokey" I wouldn't tell anyone, either.

Seriously, why are you afraid of coming from a monkey? If you look carefully, you will see we are very similar to monkeys, especially chimps and Bonobos. It is the ignorance of man that makes him think he is any different than all the other animals on this planet.

It's possible for one to believe in both evolution and God, by the way.

We don't. Ancestors of humans (apes), and monkeys shared a common ancestor.

Since there is no god, it makes no sense to say we were created by one.

If you wanted to actually understand evolution, you could. But I take it you don't, as you prefer making up stupid ideas (like a dog instantly turning into a cow).

Yes, people who believe in reason and evidence really are for real that we evolved from other species.

You, who reject evidence and reason believe in your Sky Bully. You have the right to believe any insanity you chose.

Just stop lying about what I believe; you don't know what I believe. (And doesn't your Sky Bully hate it when you make up stupid lies about other people?)

Lady Hope, who claimed she had visited a bedridden Charles at Down House in the autumn of 1881. She alleged that when she arrived he was reading the Book of Hebrews, that he became distressed when she mentioned the Genesis account of creation, and that he asked her to come again the next day to speak on the subject of Jesus Christ to a gathering of servants, tenants and neighbors in the garden summer house which, he said, held about 30 people. This story first appeared in print as a 521-word article in the American Baptist journal, the Watchman Examiner, and since then has been reprinted in many books, magazines and tracts.

Darwin's biographer, Dr James Moore, lecturer in the history of science and technology at The Open University in the UK, has spent 20 years researching the data over three continents. He produced a 218-page book examining what he calls the 'Darwin legend'. [The Darwin Legend] He says there was a Lady Hope. Born Elizabeth Reid Cotton in 1842, she married a widower, retired Admiral Sir James Hope, in 1877. She engaged in tent evangelism and in visiting the elderly and sick in Kent in the 1880s, and died of cancer in Sydney, Australia, in 1922, where her tomb may be seen to this day.

I believe that God was creative with his beautiful world and made things look like there could have been a natural evolution on it's own but my question is what created the big band and where did all the matter come from? Not ONE scientist can come up with an answer to that one and they never will. By the way I LOVE science and marvel at God's beauty through it.

Hokey Mokies Mat Man.

Actually if a cow turned into a dog or whatever that would be a miracle and would totally disprove evolutionary theory.
It certainly would not support it. Evolution theory describes a different system than that.
