Dog eating is prohibited in the US because we do not have a tradition of eating dogs. Pigs are more intelligent than dogs but since we have always eat pigs, does it make it right? In some countries pigs are worshipped or used as pets. Should we slaughter an animall because of its appearance? Slavery used to be US tradition but it changed. We consider other dog eating country barbaric, but what about our poor pigs?

Actually I don't condemn eating dogs. If I was hungry enough I would eat one. They are just animals. Besides I really like bacon.

Eating dogs is not allowed because we keep dogs as pets, not livestock. Pigs are livestock. Just like horses, they are not considered livestock, they are considered work animals and are not eaten. It really has little to do with the intelligence of the animals.
Besides, you tell those millions of bacon, ham and sausage lovers that they just can't have any more because someone decided that we shouldn't eat pigs.

It would be much healthier if that were so...
it is an unclean animal...it is not to be eaten ..yet somewhere along the line people got this idea that it is OK to eat....
what happened to the dietary laws in the Bible?
we do not eat dog,cat, rat, vultures, hawks, these are unclean..but the clam, crab,shrimp, lobster,pig where are unclean are eaten as food??
the pig is a 4 legged trash disposal....ick...
and people wonder why they are not healthy???

Yes we should continue to slaughter pigs because you can't have a BLT without the bacon.

You have to be Kidding!!!! and i'm sorry we can't eat "dogs" too!! i hear they are very good...i have eaten rat...it's not bad..stinks..but not bad...and dog would be a lot better than rat...but take away Pig? (hey, if you are "hungry? you will eat anything..believe me!) even a cat! kinda stringy..not as good as squirrel.... i'm gonna quit for now.....(some things ? not bad!)
