I am in accessory business that pairs these mentioned guns. All I need to know is the REGISTERED numbers. Approximate would do just fine as I only need to show my customers that there are enough gun owners for these models subsequently showing large enough demand for accessories for such models.
Thanks again for your help.

Except way down deep in the 'Deep Dark Depths' of the Feds' 'Main Frame' (Where they'd NEVER admit to it! ! ! !) NO such lists EXIST! (And tell me ANOTHER one, Daddy! ! !)
Don't hold your breath, waiting for the BATFE boys to give you ANY info, even tho they NEVER lie!

These records are retained by FFL licensed holders NOT the ATF. it does not take into consideration private transfers. ATF does not have a "registry". Gun registration is not going to happen because you don't need to know who has what firearm.
You'd want to check manufacturer and import data. You still work have a very accurate picture.
Of the items you mentioned. the only one with a consistent manufacturer is the one that likely has the least distribution. The mini 14. Ruger probably has an actual production number. Most of the other items are from a variety of disparate manufacturers. My AR was a homebuilt. I purchased a kit from model1sales and bought a lower from a local firm that machined it. (there is a 4473 on the lower) unless it's 80%.
M16 is a federally regulated firearm and requires a Class III NFA license holder. the AR15 and SKS are semi-auto and do not require special licensing.
Personally I own two of the aforementioned weapons.

registered is a term that is miss used. Most states don't register guns they check the history of the buyer and his/her criminal record. I know for fact that 9 out of 10 nay sayers in the gun debate haven't fired a firearm and when shown how to fire and use a firearm in a safe way tend to become gun nuts. We know this do to college case studies of anti-gun students who were asked who they felt and why then taken to a range and offered a chance to see how bad a gun could be. After which they all came to the conclusion the firearm wasn't bad but rather the end user. And since 97% of firearms used in a criminal activity aren't purchased legally gun control doesn't work it actually leaves people open to gun viloance. A armed a attacker has never opened a attack on a armed group of people in American history. They however do seem to attack unarmed groups on a regular basis. If the children of VT had been informed and legally able to have concealed handguns. How man people would have died that day? 2 maybe 3? I would say it would have played out more like this Chan would have shot one person then a fellow VT student or teacher would have drawn their sidearm and ended the blood bath. Chan might have shot 2 people but that would have been about the end of it. Instead a bunch of non-history reading anti-firearm nay sayers allowed the death of many people who didn't have to die. So gun count per home is not important in fact gun ownership was a requirement in America until the 1920's at which time the Gangsters of the day used their heavy political powers to remove the guns from the hands of store owners to prevent them resisting the gangsters requests to do as they say or else.

I would imagine you would have to go to specific manufacturers to determine this, and even then the numbers would be flawed due to lost, damaged and destroyed weapons.
The Mini-14 is manufactured by Sturm Ruger
The AR-15 by Colt
The M-16 has been manufactured under license by many manufacturers, but, you may be able to find these numbers by contacting the Department of Defense (or by doing a Freedom of Information request)
The SKS has also been manufactured by many; except in many different countries. To determine these numbers would be very difficult.

Because firearms are not deeded and titled like real estate or automobiles, there are no accurate records that the government keeps on ownership. Except in a few areas, there is no registration in the US.
They may have manufacturing data on US made firearms or importation data on imported data, but it's not exactly BATF's job to provide you with this data in the format you want.
I know that just one of the many importers just hit the 200k mark on imported SKS 59/66s from Bosnia. It's not unfounded to estimate there are a couple million of these here in the US now.

Ask an organization or politician that is in favor of gun control. Of course there numbers are going to be estimated (and most probably OVER estimated!!!) as there is no way to accurately obtain these numbers. In any case, I think whatever number they give you will work for you since it will help you prove your point to your potential buyers - in this specific case, the higher the better!!!

If ATF tells you they do not have the STats then why go any further. The question you are asking is not answerable. No one is going to be able to answer that question. Why don't you call Sarah Brady, she will give you a fictional number and you can use that and reference her as an expert.

This is impossible to determine, even if you have all the Fed. Form 4473's in front of you. People trade and sell guns all the time, and individual gun transactions need not be recorded in most areas.

Instead of looking up registered guns, why not look for the amount of weapons manufactured each year. That should give you a better approximation anyway.

you are going to have to tell us what your presentation is for before we give any information. are you for or against the assault weapons ban being re-instated? if you are for the ban then just make up the numbers as all the others have done before you, if you are trying to help the cause then i think we can help you find the info you need
