Sex is a very special thing and is the most intimate way that you can connect with a person. The more you have it with multiple people the less it will mean as an intimate connection. I personally would recommend limiting your sexual encounters as much as possible so that you can show your most intimate affection for your spouse. Being too willing to have sex right up front not only makes you easy and therefore less desirable in the long run but it will also significantly increase the amount of sexual partners you will have over your lifetime. Not everyone is able to wait until marriage so if you aren't willing to try then at least be willing to wait long enough so your partner knows that they are special to you. And if they aren't special to you and you want to have sex with them anyway then you are a douche.

We slept together the first night we met. We've been together for a little over 2 and 1/2 years now!!!
I don't t believe there is a "standard" wait period. You do it when you feel it. I've waited before with previous boyfriends, and I've not waited with some. You have to do what feels right to you.

If by significant other you mean the girl I just met on the bus on my way to Pizza Hut, then lets just say that the bus ride was 15 minutes. Just kidding... I usually wait around three months or so, depending on what she is comfortable with

I slept with my boyfriend on the 2nd date. I actually intended for him to be a 1 night stand, but he wanted more and called me 2 weeks after we and he eventually grew on me and I fell in love with him. Funny @ss guy. We didn't last that long, a year and 2 months, to be exact. This wasn't because he thought I was cheap, (we were both in love). It was because of a long distance factor. I tried.
His job interfered with our relationship. I broke up with him 3 years ago and he's still calling me asking for some of this sweet thing. Lol! = )

I knew my husband as a friend for about 6 month before we started dating. Once we started dating we waited about a week (3-4 date)!

Both in our 50s, about five and a half months.
The time before that, though, only 6 days, and that's because we didn't see each other the first five of those.

I made him wait 3 months. We were friends before we got together and he was with a diff woman every week. So when we started dating, he had himself checked and what not. Then 3 months later, I decided to take the relationship to another level. No regrets here. :)
