This has always been a funny scenario to me. How do you ask someone for YOUR money back, without being offensive? It's YOUR MONEY remember? You were doing them a favor, and if they can't return your money in exchange for what you did, after a certain period of time, they are the one being rude, especially if it's only $25.00. What, do they want to pay in like $5.00 increments? I understand that times are hard for alot of people these days, but apparently that includes you, so just give him a call and say "Hey man, If it's possible for you to give back that money that I let you hold, I'd really appreciate that". Don't feel obligated to go into detail, about your financial situation, just ask him if he has it? I don't think asking for your money back is ever rude. It's not what you do, it's how you do it sometimes.
If you were a rude person, you wouldn't have given it to them in the first place.

just say something like "hey, i know youve prob. been busy or had alot on ur mind but friday i lent u $25 and i really need that back as soon as possible" keep it short and simple and dont worry a/b comin off as rude, as long as u stay away from the lines "u owe me..." then ull be ok. Best of Luck!

Just call him up and tell him, "Hey I was wondering if you could get me that $25 tomorrow, I need it?"
You also learned a valuable lesson, borrowing money among friends usually doesn't worry. If you loan anyone else money, make sure you are clear about when you expect the money back by.

I find the best way to do that without sounding cheap or rude is to just be honest. Tell him that you gave him that you needed to do something else with as a friend and now that something else has come up and you really need it back. If he is a true friend, he will not be hurt and give you back your money.

Just say "Hey, remember that 25 I lent you last week, I really need it back now." Explain why maybe, but it really doesn't matter why. He owes it, no need to feel shy asking for it back.

I usually have to pay my dates 25 dollars. What's this guy got? Say "Hey cheapass, do you have that $25 you borrowed?", you can substitute his name if you don't want to be rude. Asking for repayment isn't rude, not repaying a debt without having to be asked IS!

run into him in a more social situation, such as a bar or resturant, and say "hey- you still have that $25 you owe me?" The peer pressure of people around will cause him to give it to you without a hassle, or if he does not have it he will have to give teh exscuse to the group of strangers, and any friends around him or you...
Its worked for me... lending money is a risk, and a pain to collect...

Just ask him for it. Rude or not, he owes you, But, you got a lot to learn, Never loan family or friends money. They feel they don't have to pay it back, or can pay it back in their time. Good luck on collecting.
