Yes you are correct. Scientists for years have been trying to concoct various hypothesis' as to how man came to be here. But in the end there is only one truth. God created man, and he used dirt/ dust to do it. Plain and simple. If scientists had just believed the bible from the start, they could have saved billions and billions of taxpayers dollars, and we probable would have had a cure for AIDS and cancer by now. Thanks a lot "scientists!" I am glad that you are one of the few people who have common sense. I applaud you and encourage your continued reading of the Holy Scriptures.

The Bible *does* of course, say the Earth and Universe were made in a week about 6,000 years ago. The Bible has a great long genealogy from David or Joseph all the way to Adam. That's the part with all the "begats". If you add up all the begats and how old their father's were at the time of begetting then you end up at about 6,000 years ago. Anyone who says the Bible *doesn't* say this and blame it on the Fundies doesn't know their Bible as well as they should. The linguistics of the Bible translations rule out the possibility that each day of Creation was a metaphorical day meant to summarize a geological epoch. I'm an atheist so this isn't a problem for me, but I think the fundamentalists are conducting very bad science and the moderates are apathetic about their texts.

Which scientist actually said that? Not a theory I've ever heard put forward in those terms.
As for Genesis, thats got a lot to answer for. As a piece of writing it's given rise to more muddle-headed thinking than alcohol.

Firstly, scientists don't say that; life originated in the oceans, and it was a lot longer ago than 5000 years. Secondly, the Genesis tales agree with the scientifically developed facts only by coincidence. Easy example: the annual layers of the Antarctic ice cap go back millions of years, and show that there was no worldwide flood during that entire time.

Power of observation--when flesh decays--eventually you have a coffin full of things bacteria don't like--bones eventually fall to powder. the way people were "buried" in those ancient times was to let them rot until they were bones and then put the bones in a hole in the wall--eventually even the bones turned to dust. Didn't take divine inspiration for the biblical quote-took simple observation--just like a scientist.

No scientist has ever said that everything comes from dust. The human body is 98% water.

Actually Genesis states that only man was made from dust, the rest was miraculously spawned by the word of God, who created vegetation, then the sun.

Imagine what we would know if we continued like Sir Isaac Newton did with the Bible and then learned more from there.
What great hope our scientists would have.

What scientist said that? Do you have a link? I haven't heard any scientist say that everything comes from dust. I think you've misinterpreted something.

You mis-interpret what scientists say (just like how I'm going to mis-interpret you).
If the bible says EVERYTHING is made of dust, then that includes your God right?

Actually from hydrogen, which turns into helium, and helium under pressure and heat turns into the other major elements.
We can prove the big bang from back ground radiation and the amount of hydrogen in the universe.
Doesn't sound like pulling ribs out and making woman to me, sorry.
