state why is it imporant to prime timber rebates prior to glazing?

protection of wood and to seal so that undercoat adheres and does not sink it is highly recommended as every bad window and rebates Ive worked on you can guarantee its because it has not been primed they flake and bubble.when it is soley for window glazing it helps to give a smooth surface so that putty can form a water tight clean seal

So the putty stays flexible and the oils in it do not sink straight into the wood
