I keep having a nightmare where I am being attacked by a bear but at the same time, my husband is in the dream and does nothing to prevent it. Example; Walking through the woods, we come upon a bear, we are running to get away, we reach a cabin, my husband enters the cabin but when I try to get in he prevents me from entering I am pounding on the door for him to let me in but he doesn't. I wake up as the bear approaches me. There have been others of the same type. I cannot explain this type of dream. Does anyone have any idea's of what the bear in the dream might symbolize. My husand says he has to really shake me to get me awake because I am screaming. Any idea's will be appreciated. Thanks.

Okay, first being in the woods represents trials, tribulations, and troubles in your life. Bear represents a oppressive, over powering issue which has come against you. At first you were both running from it together. Log cabin represents the place of safety. However, your husband reaching the cabin represents he knows the key to keep the oppressor out, but the reason you get left out is because he has not shared the answer or key to the problem with you. That's why you get locked out of the cabin. Your husband has the key to the situation to help you.

the thing is that youve remember the same dream also, see, its one thing when you dream, but the more powerful the dream, the better you remember it. youre just afraid of death or someone close to you dying. Most everyone is afraid of death. Ive had nightmares where Chucky has come to get me. The first few ones i had i was running. But its when i started to fight back in my dreams that he dissappeared. Look for a gun in youre dream, there is one, trust me. Kill the bear! its a dream! keep on thinking about this bear throughout the day and think about the gun. I havent had a nightmare since i was 15. Im now 21 and the only nightmare ive had since was my dad telling me i had to join the navy and then an uncontrollable rage had risen from me and then i woke up really pissed. i was kicking walls and breaking tables in my dream. Just face your fear. When we face fear we unlearn avoidance!

I believe some dreams/nightmares have significance.

The bear, I don't thing is the problem, it seems you might be fearful of your husband not caring about you. It's subconscious, but think about why you could possibly feel that way.

According to the activation-synthesis theory of dreams, the dream probably has no meaning at all. (Sorry, that may not be what you wanted to hear.)

Although dreams are influenced by our thoughts throughout the course of the day, this does not mean they are special messages to us that we should carefully consider.

Here's one perspective:

"Activation Synthesis Theory is a neurobiological theory of dreams, put forward by James Allan Hobson and Robert McCarley in 1977, which states that dreams are a random event caused by firing of neurons in the brain. This random firing sends signals to the body's motor systems, but because of a paralysis that occurs during REM sleep, the brain is faced with a paradox. It synthesizes a narrative by drawing on memory systems in an attempt to make sense of what it has experienced."
