my wife did it for her entire pregnancy. From what I've heard it's good for pregnant women because it is low impact. Overall, unless you are real overweight, it doesn't have the effect of a regular workout with weights, machines and regular cardio.

Now my wife is doing Jazzercise and seeing a trainer twice a week for weight training. She loves it and the results show.

I did the curves workout for quite a while (6 months or so) and LOVED it, I definetly noticed a difference. And lost alot of weight, but I also changed my eating habits and went from virtually unactive to working out there about 3 times a week.

I have heard that curves does not burn that many calories per workout, however, it depends on how out-of-shape you are and what you put into your workout. Give it a try for a few months see if you like it.

My sister-in-law is a member. I went with her once. While I couldn't work out, as I wasn't a member (and wasn't properly dressed to work out), I was able to see some. It seemed to be very low impact and boring to me. I guess she's lost weight from doing it, but she really hasn't changed her eating habits much, which is not good.

I suppose if you're interested, you could contact the local franchise (I'm assuming they're franchised) and ask if you could pay for one day to try it out. I don't know if they allow that, but it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Personally, I prefer yoga and walking outdoors for good workouts physically and spiritually.

My cousin did it for a month or two before her wedding and was nice and buff, but it doesn't seem to be something that works longterm based on other people. (She wasn't overweight, just wanted to tone up. Then I got her hooked on pilates.)
