Oh boy - you're going to probably get a boatload of people spamming this question with of course - their particular company. I don't sell for any network marketing company so my answer is objective.
I have, however, had marketing mentoring clients who are MLMers and so I've learned a lot about some of them. Additionally, I've spoken about my book in front of Mary Kay, Arbonne, Beauti-control, Pre-paid Legal, World Financial Group and others.
A lot of what's "right for you" is going to depend on you. Do you have an inherent passion for a certain kind of product? For example if you're all about health and fitness there are a ton of companies like USANA or AGEL that will be happy to oblige. If you're into high tech stuff - there are products like HelloWorld you'll be happy to talk about all day long - which you'll do a lot of.
But the big question in my mind is - why MLM?
I swear MLM companies have broken more hearts and dashed more entrepreneurial dreams because you are sometimes dealing with circumstances that are totally out of control and can not only impact the income stream you worked so hard to build but in some instances it can totally eliminate it.
* They change a product formula and sales plummet. Or it's found that a company is using perscription drugs in a non-perscription product to be competitive and the top brass is carted off to jail. (This happened last year with a company called Neways.)
* They change the compensation structure and you're left twisting in the breeze because you built your downline a different way and so you're suddenly making much less money.
* The company doesn't file the required papers with the FTC and they're shut down. The income you've worked so hard to build is GONE.
* Think going with an established company is better? Companies like AmWay and Mary Kay are so regulated that it's almost impossible to build a business with all their rules and regs.
* Go with a brand new company and there's a lot of buzz, excitement and entrepreneurial spirit - but not so much trust and credibility.
* and the list goes on.
Find a product you're passionate about and that people want and have confidence in your ability to do your own thing.
All the best,

Hi G. R.
If you let this question run for a while, you will probably receive enough answers to write a great article.
Presently, there are more MLM companies out there than I have hair on my head...they each promise to the best thing since "sliced bread"
The truth is that many are legitimate and solid companies.
Make sure to exercise due diligence when you are researching any home based business opportunity.
Also, try to find a product or service that you are passionate about. It makes it much easier to be motivated...and if you are motivated you stand a better chance at being successful.
If you choose a Network Marketing company, make sure they have a money back guarantee, have a great marketing system and provide plenty of support and training.
Try to get in on a company opportunity or training call to see what the business is all about and the type of individuals who are running the business.
I don't get involved in all the hype and I'm not going to try to sell you in this post. But, if you are truly interested in a great business....
Contact me through my profile if you are interested in additional information.
Good luck in your work at home search.

There are some great opportunities out there if you know how to look for the right one.
Network Marketing is one of the fastest growing concepts in the nation and that is because of the excellent earning potential. Many people don't understand the concept so they just assume that they are all scams.
The important thing is to know how to find the right opportunity for you with a good pay structure and a sound company.
I have an article that can help you in finding the right opportunity for you. You'll learn what to look for, what to avoid and questions to ask to help determine if it is the right opportunity for you and if the company is legit.
I have over 20 years experience in network marketing and because of this business, I have the freedom to take the time each day to help others in their search to help them avoid the mistakes I have made along the way.
The article is too long for answers messaging but if you will email me at bonnieram1962@yahoo.com and let me know you want the article on finding the right home business, I will be glad to email you a copy.
I wish you all the best and look forward to helping you in your search.

Honestly all the answers are a bunch of crap, I have been in the business now for over 6 years. The only real thing I would do right now is the reverse funnel system. Google the reverse funnel system and see if you find anyone saying its a scam, thats the real way to tell. You think anyone else would tell you to google thier program? No, because people are saying bad things about it. You can read up about the reverse funnel system on my blog:
http://www.reversefunnelsystemspot.blogspot.com
and heres the direct link to the program:

I want someone who is willing to work, you make $1000 per signup and it grows fast. My team leader is making 14k and shes only 14 days in, im new and already made 1k in 3 days. Hope this helps.

Kari, The web is a tangled place to do business and unless you have a product of your own or something that Everyone Wants, then it is a hard place to make money. That is why I chose a different program that allows me to make a Very Good income in publishing. Yes I actually sell books, nothing digital. I work part time, as a sales consultant, for "Practical Memoir" they publish a book that allows anyone to write there own memoir. Most people that get the book have completed it in a few days or weeks. Then when they have put their life story into print, they mail a copy of the book back to "Practical Memoir" and order copies of the finished book for their family members. The cool part is that each book ends up costing only about $20 and makes the BEST gift you could ever give a loved one. So how do I make my money from this? As I mentioned I work as a "Practical Memoir Consultant" and host parties with friends and family just like Pampered Chef. I sell copies of the book at the events(average sale is 2 books per guest, 1 for the guest and 1 for a friend of theirs) then we all sit around with snacks and start the process of completing our books. A few days later when those guest are done, they mail in the books order the copies etc..... I get paid right at the party for the Profit on the books sold at the party, then I also get 25% commission on all the reprints. It is great residual income that is their for life. In January I made $1,692 in commissions from doing only 4 shows. In February I did 7 parties, and plan to bring in close to $2,500 for my next check. I now also have 3 girlfriends working in my network and have just started seeing overides on their sales. Plus, if I keep this pace going I will be looking at making bonuses. Best of Luck Jen

That's an oxy moron.... No such thing as an honest good network marketing business oportunity. Instead focus on a carrer and maybe investing in your hobby, which can pay well depending on what your hobbies are.
