My last few questions dealt with incest. I said the two people would use protection (i.e: pills, contraceptives) and no one (besides a few who personally thought it was wrong) had anything to say against it. The only other people that said it was sick, were Christians.

I guess it's true that atheists really don't have morals, because no atheist could say anything against it, with the situation I presented (safe sex).

I know you can say you still think it's personally wrong, but what difference does that make with moral relativism? You think it's wrong, someone else doesn't, don't try to stop them.

That's pretty bad.

how is it bad? it's only bad because you think it is...

morality is nothing but a social construct of how we should act...

i'm not going to step on your freedom just because what i think you do is wrong

as long as you don't push sibling love as a requirement in society...(like some religion i might mention)..i could care less what you and your sister choose to do in your own time behind closed doors...

There are reasons whether God handed em down from on high or weather the Bushman derived them through trial and error--that we have a set of rules to live by, Incest brrings out genetic recessives--offspring --or offspring of offspring that are deformed on mentally challenged. Taking care of those who can't take care of themselves is a large drain on any society. The reason there are "morals" or laws against incest is society protecting itself. In the scenario you presented--it could happen--behind closed doors and no pregnancy--know one will know--you'd get away with it--not much would be said because in essence--soceity is unharmed. Had you gotten your sister pregnant it would have been an entirely different story. We have laws and "morals" because society could not grow and progress without them.

You're just a "flame starter"..but I'll fall for it..
I'm atheist... and YES, it is wrong, but not based on religion from my prospective,it's dangerous, what if something goes wrong and a pregnancy happens! The chances of the infant being born with problems is very high.

Other than that, I don't see a problem, I don't personally condone it, but I have no idea why..somebody must have drilled it into my head at some point in my life.....!!

Um...well. First, I didn't see that question.

Second, I would say it was wrong simply because it's against the law. Period.

I don't live my life by a book...I live my life by the laws written by my state and country.

For you to generalize that all atheists don't have morals because of something this ridiculous just shows you, yourself, have no intelligence.

Think about this...Christians aren't supposed to judge, yet they judge everyone and everything other than themselves.

We honestly don't care what other people do. As long as it doesn't effect us or harm other people, then fine.

And in that situation, no one is harming anything. It's their choice to break the law and do something that, well, is kinda gross.

But who am I to judge them? I'm just an atheist. I'll let the Christians handle that one.

I didn't see your other questions sorry..... These answers are horrifying!! INCEST IS WRONG!!!! No if,ands, or , buts!!! Just like murder is wrong, rape is wrong, adultery is wrong, etc... With responses like these does this mean that our next generations will be totally void of any morals on the basis of rebellion? Science only proves why God said it was wrong!! (i.e. genetic defects). Jesus is the way, the Truth and the life.
Don't deny Him!! I don't say this out of offense, rather out of pleading. God does not say these things are wrong because He wants to lay down random rules. These things are wrong because they will DESTROY us! It steals the wonderful plans that God has for us. Pray for those that are still lost and follow their own rules.

But christians can't come up with a moral reason it is wrong either - only a biblical reason.

The reason it is 'wrong' is not a moral one but a genetic one - it produces weak and genetically unstable offspring. Don't try to say that any contraception is 100% effective because no contraceptives are. The moral wrong here is in taking the chance that such a pregnancy *could* occur.

You do realize all the incest in the Bible, right? They didn't seem to think there was anything wrong with it.

So where did Christians get the idea that incest is wrong if not from the Bible?

Wherever it was, the fact that they have morals from outside the Bible suggests that even Christian morality is not derived exclusively from religion. The obvious conclusion of that is that atheists simply get their morals from other places.

"right" and "wrong" can only be applied by you, and always discussed. If a lot of people regard something as "bad" it becomes a standard opinion (and guideline) without noone really knowing why.

If you're truly objective about the diversity of life, you will see that many of the "right" and "wrong" are quite illogical.

You are an idiot. I don't know anyone, Atheist or not, who would not think incest is abhorrent and nauseating.

You apparently, think neither.
