when doing a study what is the diiference between a sample used in the study and the population.

population is the totality of the given problem
ex. the population of teh philippines is 1M.

sample or should i say sample space is a portion if the population a subset.
ex. in laguna, there 20,000 people.

20000 is the sample space and 1M is population

hint population is greater tahn teh sample space

Sample is the actual study group; a subset of the population. The population is the entire group, including the samples. Say you ask 33 people in a room of 100 what color each likes best. 33 is sample; 100 is population.
