i am 23, i go to school (i work full time also, for my dad so it makes matters worse i guess) but i moved back in with my parents because they urged me to so that i could work full time at my dad's company and go to school full time (college, of course) and be able to save money. well, it has been a year and a half and my mom started acting wierd and to make a long story short she won't let me in the house because she says our "schedules conflict" and so i told her i would like to get my stuff because i will move out. i was unable to do my school work (i take online classes) because she locked me out of the house and my books were still in there. i am at a loss of what to do she hits me when i try to go and talk to her, she won't return my phone calls, my dad will not talk about it; but most of all i want all my stuff i worked hard for and paid for! is there anything i can do, legally or does she get to keep everything of mine? i don't even have shoes to wear right now! please help.

i started school a year and half ago, no drug problem, and my mother has always had this rule that she is the only one that can open the door to the house-my dad, sister and i are not, under any circumstance allowed to touch the door or open it. shrug, we never asked why because she gets mad and will hit us.

Why not ask your dad to get your things for you?

If that doesn't work, call the police. Tell them that you just need their protection while you get your things.

I cant help but think you're leaving out very important details.

you work for your dad, go to school full time, are 23 (when did you start school) and have moved home on their urge.

Why would she just wantonly lock you out of the house? Why wouldn't your dad step in and at least let you in the house while he is there?

Is/was there a drug/theft problem in the past? Trust issues? I just feel there is much more to this story than what you have laid out for us.

You can arrange for the Police or other law enforcement agency to accompany you to the property to claim your things. Your Mother is already violating the law since she made you leave without getting an eviction order through the court. YUP, even throwing your adult kids out requires this. Explain this to your local law enforcement agency.

That is your residence, she cannot lock you out of it. If she wants to kick you out she has to file an eviction notice. If you want your stuff, you might want to consider calling the police and see if what I said is true for your state as well.

sounds like your mom is ill. you will have to get legal help if she wont help you. sounds also like your dad does not want to get involved why is that?
