The fact that you HAVE a dog means you have dominion over that dog. You feed it. You tend to it. You care for it.
Monkeys don't HAVE a dog, nor any other animal have dominion (ownership and responsibility) of another animal.
Good Luck.
P.S. what did you think dominion meant?

...Your dog still needs obedience training. Learn how to use a choke-chain properly.
...One very good dog-training method was developed by William Koehler, who trained many animals for Disney.
...If you read his book, you might think he had no heart for animals, because of some of the methods he uses.
...Whatever method you use, your dog must be taught to keep his eye on you, and you have to do some unusual things sometimes to accomplish this. Be assured, though, that this is for the dog's good; it may well save his life, if he listens to you and does not chase that cat out in traffic.
...I did lots of training with our golden retriever (he was like a spring-loaded yoyo) and less with my Australian shepherd, who just seemed to know and do what I wanted, and learned very fast.
...If you invest some time in training your dog, you will be much happier with him and vice-versa.

Obviously centuries of selective breeding have made domestic dogs far less obedient than the wolves they're descended from. It was probably atheist dog breeders trying to find holes in religions that hadn't been invented yet.

Maybe your dog speaks another language. You should just learn them all and try each one out.
If that doesn't work, trade him in for a newer model.

If this is what you believe, OK...
I'll say this is bad training. Use your command voice, and smack it on the nose with a newspaper when it doesn't mind you.
Dogs are domesticated, so their free will is mushy - if you push hard enough, you can get your will in there.
