I beleive in god because for me not beliving would effect my being more than my faith..
I dont go around informing everyone that god is great and he's going to save them..Because...I don't know.. I am as clueless as every single other person truthfully is... regardless of faith...
I believe because I have to have hope that my dad who died when I was a child and my best friend who took her own life are waiting for me. And for now are at peace that only something on earth couldnt provide...They both went through so much pain here.. So Im hoping God has taken that all away and is letting them exist with him..
But it's only a hope... I guess I pray because I want to reaffirm to them that Im thinking of them ... No other reason.
If you dont beleive in god, it says to me you dont have to. Either you've never experienced bereavement or you're a stronger person than me.
That's all I have to say. Maybe one day you'll change your mind.
Diversity is a great thing. You shouldnt challenge someone to whom faith brings comfort by insulting the very core of their belief.
Because..In truth, as I already said... Nobody knows. That includes you.
(FYI I have a BA hons Science, and so please dont think I dont understand the theory of evolution that explaination of the beginning...)

If you want to be an Atheist that is your choice.Noone could
convince you, so why ask? You would have to care for other
people, all animals, all creatures, all plants etc. etc.
When you become a part of the cosmos by your caring and
love for it you will be ready to be aware that there is
something else than the concrete material existence.
Your choice to think and live in the concrete world closes the
door. , You can open it then you will be aware.

I'm not sure that the Bible qualifies as a GOOD science fiction novel.

No matter how much evidence we show you if you do not want to believe you will not. Believe me once you look hard enough the evidence is there. I spent 47 years looking for it every where else and it was not found. I found it in the Word of God and by seeing what he has created for us. We can share the Gospel with you we can show that God indeed is truth. But is in the end up to you. It is something that you feel in your heart and soul.

Can't convince someone who already believes that God does not exist. But if god did show up at your front door, that might make you believe though right?

There are some things which science cannot explain. Maybe God has a hand in those.
I hope since you are not religious that you don't celebrate Easter or Christmas 'cause that would make you a hypocrite

I would not even try to convince you. I would be curious to find out whether you have ever considered what would happen if you just stopped the stream of thought and judgment within your mind for a little while. So many atheists, like my father, fear the deeper levels of awareness, so deny themselves the direct connection with the sacred within. The fear of loss of control or not appearing intelligent is very powerful for many.

I can't convince you. I can share the knowledge I have. It is up to you if you wish to hear. Jesus couldn't convince everyone..How could we be better? You have heard the word and chosen not to believe. there is no more.

You are not interested, why feign it?
Are you speaking only about the Christian God or anyones definition?
Looking at this from a Pantheistic point of view, I could ask you. Do you believe in the Air you breath? The ground you stand on? The light of the Sun?
Do they deserve your acknowledgement? Yes
Do they need it? No.
Good day to you.

I'm not judgemental; people are entitled to their beliefs, but the nature of postmodernity is that people will grapple with this kind of problem for years to come.
There is no right or wrong answer. God both exists and does not exist. The paradox is more apt than any one answer.
