I'm not sure about a religious organization, but New Jersey State Assemblyman Craig Stanley has. The team's name, was chosen in a contest, and it is based the mythical Jersey Devil (an animal more like Taz than an actual devil), not the Christian symbol of the antichrist.
I always thought it would be funny if the Devils hired Miroslav Satan (pronounced "Shatan"), who is a pretty decent player.

I don't know, but there was a club here that used to be a church. There were always protesters outside protesting the church being turned into a nightclub. People would stand outside every weekend holding signs. Crazy people.
