I know every case is unique and every individual is different when it comes to pain so I figured i would try to get some advice before going to the dr. and spending hundreds of dollars. For the last month or so i have been having sever pain under my center rib cage. Antacids, pepto bismo does not touch it. It feels like heartburn or my stomach is on fire. I usually wake up in the middle of the night with this pain. My back is starting to hurt between my shoulder blades now when i wake up in the morning. I have noticed that eating pizza or tomatoe based products seem to cause the worse symptoms. If anyone else has experienced these symptoms please let me know. Its sounds like i am having problems related to my gallbladder but wanted a second opinion. Thanks everyone.

It sounds exactly like a gallbladder problem easiest self test is eat a high fatty meal I suggest a hamburger french fries ice cream and for some people eggs really set them over. wait 30-45 minutes and if you start feeling nasious and pain on your right side it could be your gallbladder, another problem could be gastrtis. There are 3 main problems that can happen with your gallbladder. 1) you could have a gallbladder stone block the bile duct, 2) your gallbladder can be inflammed, you would have a tempature most likely if this was going on. 3) the 2nd most common is simply your gallbladder has crapped out and no longer functions its called something like "billary diskenis" sp on it is horrible. The two main tests for your gallbladder are ultrasound and hida scan. The are both extreamly expensive especially the hida scan but if it is your gallbladder you will feel relief as soon as it is removed. sucky huh? I'm getting mine out the 26th of this month and cant wait.

Sounds about right... i had vomiting in the morning too. But that sounds exactly like what i went through a few years back...

Now i'm gallbladder free and loving it! Go to the doctor. They are gonna do a CT scan, and probably have that thing out before the end of the month. At the very least, they will give you a drug to help pass any small stones if there are only a few.

I have. Yes, the swelling will go down. It hasn't even been a week yet. Calm down, relax. Now, have you lost 41 lbs? Or 4 lbs. since Monday? I lost 30 lbs. when I had my gallbladder removed. I had mine removed in 1989. It took a couple weeks for my stomach to go back to normal and it's been fine ever since. I you have any concerns, you need to call the surgeon's office. Even on the weekend. They can page him and he'll call you. That might put you at ease.

I've had my gallbladder out. My pain was on my right side, under the breast. What you are describing sounds more like bad indigestion or an ulcer. Since the pain is in the middle, though, and you feel it in your back, you need to see a doctor to make sure it isn't your heart. Have you checked your blood pressure? Please go see a doctor.

You just described the symptoms I had for three years before I had my gallbladder removed. I couldn't eat tomatoes, or apples, popcorn, gravy, ham, or anything with animal fat. It will only get worse, so have it taken care of.
