My dog had been fixed before we rescued him from a shelter. He will be 7 in November and at least 3-4 times a week he will (sorry if this sounds gross) screw his face, get and erection, lick himself, chase his tail and then lay on his back and bark at nothing. It is very funny to look at but I am worried. I asked the vet about it and he is a little stumped also. Any clues??????

You didn't say how long you've had the dog - I assume you got him fairly recently?
What you describe doesn't sound purely sexual to me. If he was desexed later in life, he may always retain some sexual behaviour, even though the hormones aren't there anymore. This is just a result of him developing into adulthood with hormones effecting his behaviour.
What he's doing sounds more like a compulsive behaviour to me. A clue is that if he does exactly the same actions, usually in the same order every time, it is probably a learned behaviour from his past, and might indicate that he was neglected by his previous owners, causing him some behavioural "damage".
My suggestion is that whenever you see him starting this chain of actions, make a noise, or throw a toy etc, to distract him, then give him some commands, or play a game. Something that completely brakes the thought cycle. After a while, if it is something that he does compulsively (like a habit) he will "unlearn" it.
I don't think you need to be terribly worried about it, and try not to let it freak you out. Dogs think differently to humans, and react to things in a different way. Try distracting him over the next few weeks & see if it improves.
Good luck, and keep loving your dog - even though he's a bit "different"!

It is common place for a dog that has been fixed to still be horny. Sounds to me like he just know how he likes it. I have an alaskan husky that was fixed when we rescued him and he's just recently taken up humping my pillow. Have to keep a very close eye on him when he's in my bedroom now, but I have given him an old stuffed animal that he can " have his way with" and he has enjoyed that instead of my pillow. It's nothing to be worried about, it's completely natural. His barking is just he's telling everyone he's happy, my alaskan husky likes to howl after he's done, just their way of letting out their happiness just like humans do in the bedroom via moans. I hope this helps you out.
