If it is early enough, we spay her immediately. If it is too late to terminate we obviously let her have the litter. That hasn't happened in awhile though.

It depends on how far along she is. If it is very early, then she is spayed. If she is pretty far along the rescues I know keep her and the pups until they are at least 8 weeks old.
I know quite a few rescues with waiting lists for pups---some purebred rescues get requests for pups that (of course) are nearly impossible to fill....The families are more than willing to adopt a mixed pup if they know what the mom is and what her temperment is like.
But I also live in the Northeast where spay and neuter is so prevelant that there are shelters that "import" pups from other states so people can adopt them.

My shelter vet always suggests terminating the pups. I always hated scheduling the appointments, but after working at a shelter I understood why. However, in rescue, it is a little different. You have foster homes and clean environments to raise the puppies. When we scheduled rescues from the shelter, I only had one group request not to abort the pups. They were a "mixed-breed" rescue. I guess it would be a matter of personal opinion for you and recommendation from the vet. Also, can your resources handle puppies and the medical care they will need to get adopted?

same with me- I do rescue cats. if it is early enough in the pregnancy then I will have the pregnancy terminated by a spay. if the cat is too far along then I will let her have the kits as spaying a cat that is too far along is quite risky healthwise and has the potential to be fatal as well as expensive! I would imagine that it is the same for dogs.

It would depend on how far along she is, and what the vet recommends.
If you allow her to have the pups, working through the rescue, humane society or shelter, see if the pups can be spayed/neutered before placement. It's not uncommon for 8 wk old pups to be sexually altered!

Depends upon how far along she is. If the puppies are viable, for me it crosses a line and I won't spay till after she weans (puppies would not be placed till after s/n)
For some rescuers, it's OK to spay/abort even if labor is imminent.
And for other rescuers, if the dog is at all pregnant, they won't spay till after the puppies are born.
There is no right or wrong answer here. It's a moral question that rescuers need to consider. The important thing is that you stick to your guns and are consistent with whatever your decision is.

Childbirth is very strenuous and painful. Why even consider placing a dog in that situation?A rescue dog has already been through enough pain and suffering.Give them a chance to be free from that burden and begin a new life. Delivering only adds to rescue's numbers and responsibilites. I know of no rescue that is wealthy, and most of us have to dig into our pockets to cover expenses.
Our rescue spays.

A canines could have worms whether they're ingesting, performing healthful and their stools are wonderful.. She won't get milk for weeks.. you will understand one way or yet another for particular whether she is pregnant earlier she gets milk even. i think of it is possibly she is pregnant. It would not unavoidably be that a larger canines bred her, she might only have a abdomen packed with doggies.. Or she is like some, they start to consume the 2nd they're bred, assuming themselves that they are pregnant. i might only pass forward and get her spayed. Take a stool pattern in once you're there and locate out for particular related to the worms.

It would all depend on how far along she is. If she is just a little ways away from having the puppies I would let her have them then get her fixed after vets okays.
