Cats are less worried about your comings and going than if you moved them to a strange place. If your friend is responsible and consciencous (sic?) and does indeed check on them twice a day and sit and watch TV with them for 1/2 hour, they won't even be weird when you get home! Remind her to keep the box clean though!

I have two kittens too and I leave them alone everyday in my apartment as I have a 9-6 job. I make sure that I leave a bowl full of catfood...a clean littertray and their basket and toys around and I know they wud be fine. And they are when I get home, only difference is you wouldnt be comin home for 5 days, but I feel if your friend has promised to check on them 2wice a day, thats more than fine coz they would keep each other company. I would worry only if there was one cat alone. If there are two cats, they are more happy with each other than they would be with you around. So relax and have a good trip.

Your cats will be fine. I always worried about mine too. I left them once for 2 weeks and was worried sick the whole time. They were shy for a little while when the cat sitter came in but when they knew they were going to be fed, they got use to the idea of having my friend around. With the two of them, they will be company for each other. They will do some exploring of their new surroundings. The best case senario would be to leave them where they live and have your friend come over there to feed them. Cats are independant. When you come back it will be as if you never left them.

I am not a vet but I think that your cats will be fine with your friend as long as she spends some time with them every day...cats are very independent and they do have each other to keep them company. Maybe your friend can stay at her own apt with the boyfriend during your vacation. The other option is to have them "boarded" depending on your area about 20 a day per cat..but you will know that some one will visit with them every day and that a vet is on hand in case they need something. Please don't cancel your vacation!! Have Fun

Your cats will be fine. In fact they would be fine if you left them alone (no one checking on them) for 5 days. Of course as long as they had plenty of food and water.
I do this all the time when I go on vacation. Cats are very independent and they will have each other for company.
Don't worry. Go and have a good time.

How will you feel while you're all the way in Egypt and find your friend has bailed on her promise to you?!
HIRE a PROFESSIONAL petsitter. You will have piece of mind, and all will be well.
Most get 20 th 30 bucks a visit. You'd need them once a day.
Cats are usually just fine at home it's us that worry and carry on. I have to go away for 8 days, have an awesome petsitter, and I soooo don't want to leave my cats- like you I have one that's "different". Go on your trip, just make a better plan for your cats.

They will be fine, I leave my two cats by themselves whenever we go on vacation, they will either want more attention when you get back or they will be mad at you for awhile but they will be fine, trust me I feel the same way about my cats. I always worry for nothing and I also have a dog to worry about. but since someone is coming by that they know it will make it easier for them.

Go on vacation.
Cats sleep most of the day when nobody's there to keep them entertained, and she'll be looking in on them twice a day for cleaning litter boxes and getting food. They'll be fine for 5 days.
