If the tooth is broken and you can see your gum it doesn't sound salvageable. To be sure see a dentist asap. Since the tooth is dead you should not feel any pain.

I had a root canal tooth break after many years and there was no pain whatsoever.

It's usually a good idea to have a crown put on a tooth that has had a root canal since the tooth will become brittle over time.

You need to go to your dentist regardless of your cold. It is not a toothache emergency, but if there are sharp edges, it would be better to get in sooner than later, and the longer you wait the less chance that tooth can be salvageable. Your dentist will let you know if it is salvageable or not. He may take an xray to verify his findings, but that should be your first stop, your second should be wherever your DDS recommends, Oral Surgeon, Endodontist (to retreat the root canal possibly) but only he can make that decision once he see it.
Hope you feel better soon
