Sominex & Unisom quit working years ago, Ambien quit working after 3 days. 25mg of Seroquel worked 3 years ago, now 100mg sometimes gets me 5 hours of sleep. I have one cup of coffee daily & exercise as much as this tired body allows. Anything out there that works? I have a doctor appointment Friday & I want to be informed first. Thanks.

I was gonna suggest some Tylenol PM or other OTC products, but you obviously have a bigger problem than that will solve if the Ambien's not doing it.

I have previously taken the following for sleep that have worked well, valium (diazapam) and Soma (carisoprodol). The soma seems to work better than the valium for me.

I take Seroquel for bipolar and to help me sleep (100 mg at night and 25 mg in the morning) It works well for me. Every medication has lots and lots of possible side effects, and in combination with other medications, even more side-effect possibilities exist. If you've been taking it for 6 years and it seems to be helping, then why start worrying about some side effect that isn't affecting you? I also have the tendency to worry about this kind of stuff, so I can surely understand why you have this concern, but I've found that I feel better if I don't think about this too much.

Try a herbal remedy like Valerian and combine it with behavioral techniques such as CBT and NLP. Skip the coffee completely- Caffeine can stay in your system for more than 5 hours.

If you're feeling tired in the day, ensure you're eating lots of fruit, veg an wholegrain to get your energy up. Ensure you're eating enough carbs and protein too. Keep well hydrated with water and try relaxation techniques such as meditation and progressive relaxation.

Insomnia is often caused by fear, stress, anxiety, medications, herbs, caffeine, depression or sometimes for no apparent reason. Make sure your bedroom is quiet and dark. Soak a tablespoon of mint leaves in a cup of water for an hour, drink every night. Check out http://useinfo-insomnia.blogspot.com/ for more info
