Does that mean incest is okay if both parents have good genes.. so Jerry Springer is wrong?!

You missed something. Deformity in such unions is acaused by the expression of shared recessive, damaged genes. This is more likey with siblings because they will share more recessive genes than the average stranger. HOwever, even if both parents share the same recessive gen in a gene pair, there still is only a 25% chance with each child of expression. (Do you remeber those little boxes from biology class Bb and Bb etc.)

Since dice have no memory, as statisticians will tell you, a 25% chance of child deformity does not mean a guarantee of 1 in 4 children being deformed. It means each child has a seperate 1 in 4 chance of being deformed. SInce the Scripture presents G-d as the di controller, He would make sure that the dice worked out the way he desired.

As to the moraltiy of them marrying their brothers and sisters, there is a tradition from Moses (which Adam, of course, also knew even before Moses) that when a positive commandment (a 'you shall') and a negative commandment ('you shall not') are necessarily in conflict, the positive has priority. An example is that the Bible says not to work on the Sabbath, yet commands certain sacrifices be offered on the Sabbath. The sacrifices are offered.

In this case, the Children had the option of either fulfilling the positive commandment to Be fruitful an Multiply, or fulfilling the negative commandment to not marry ones sibling. As there was no other choice, they took be fruitful and multiply.

You don't want to get life information from Jerry Springer. But, yes the children reproduced with each other because there were no other people on the earth. No, they were not deformed because they were made from perfect people. As time progressed, people began to be more and more imperfect. If you notice in the bible, the old testament did support the marriage of family members to keep their lineage pure. Remember King David was married to his sister. However in the new testament, there were new rules put in place. This is called, the new covenant, which took effect when Jesus came to earth. People were no longer in a healthy condition to bear children with family members. They became too imperfect and therefore could not have children within a family without it being dangerous for the child's well being. So, no you are not deformed. God would not allow that to continue on and ruin mankind. That is why he instilled new rules, because the condition of man had changed.

Inbreeding only causes those things to happen because most people carry a gene for some sort of disorder.

Two related people who didn't carry those genes could have healthy children.

No. The people on Jerry Springer clearly do carry those genes. LOL

But seriously, we probably only see incest as being "gross" because in general, it's unhealthy. I have never met anyone who did not have SOME minor genetic defect, or at least have relatives who had those defects.

Adam and Eve were perfect. Remember that this was before the Fall and "the curse." God gave dispensation that their children could reproduce, other perfect children.
Adam lived 950 years, according to Genesis, and Seth his son, lived to a similar age. They had many offspring. After the fall, man gradually atrophied and his age decreased.(As a race)
Sin corrupted mankind and because of this God said he would die.
God reduced the age of man to 120 years, and eventually the present 70 years. Our genes and bodies have corrupted and as the generations get farther away from Adam we cannot inbreed, as it will now produce birth defects.
This was not the case in the beginning, and although it is hard to understand by todays understanding, it is actually of what happened.

Adam ans Eve were perfect in everything, genes included. Through out the ages our genes mutated and so now-days it's bad for us to reproduce with our close relatives. Hope this helps.

They reproduced in a manner that seems repugnant to us today.
Today, an offspring of a brother and sister stands a good chance of being deficient someway.
Such was not the case back then.
They were one step away from perfection.
We are over 6,000 years away.
We have degenerated over the centuries.
We face risks they did not.
AND ...simply to put things in a clearer light:
Imagine a son of Adam grows up, moves away, comes back at 35 years of age and sees this beautiful 18 year old young lady .....he never knew.
His heart is struck.
Upon being informed she is his sister, he replies:
"She's a stranger to me!"

Actually, if you read the bible they most likely reproduced with the "others," which are described in genesis as humans under laws of other gods. Adam and Eve were 2, but Genesis says there were others.

Incest was allowed WHILE the offspring were close to perfection (genes were perfect), but mankinds genes have corrupted and as the generations get farther away from Adam we cannot inbreed, as it will now produce birth defects....and therefore it was later forbidden for the Israelites to inbreed:

“You people must not come near, any man of you, to any close fleshly relative of his to lay bare nakedness. . . . The nakedness of your father and the nakedness of your mother you must not lay bare.” (Lev. 18:6, 7)

Yup, we're all inbred.

Oh, and don't forget that after a few thousand years to get some genetic diversity going, god then flooded the entire earth killing everything except two of each species, which means that every animal on the planet then had to inbreed.
