hi Roman! the answers given above only prove my theory, that the bible is not read; it is interpreted! this means that everybody interprets different meanings to different chapters and verses. This alone should prove that the bible is nothing more than allegorical nonsense, but I am sure that the Christian blindness where the bible is concerned, will make up some rhetorical fairy tale that claims validity for the reader!
what the religious zombie needs to do, is not interpret the bible, but actually read it, word for word, thus they might have a chance of seeing the true meaning of its words.
religion teaches its followers to read between the lines, this then opens the reader up to their interpretation and their philosophy. One guy above mentions this in his answer, but I don't think he realised that in doing this he has shown that the bible is not the word of God, but the word of Man, interpreted as the word of God. You are right to mention the many, many contradictions of the bible, for it can show the blind believer the true meaning, thus save them from the religious cult interpretation. I say keep up the good work Roman, for if qwe reach just one person and make them see what the real meaning of religion is, it will be worth it. you know my feelings on this subject, you know how much I have looked into and learnt on this subject.
religion is subjugation of the conscience keeping you through faith, from knowing the truth, the bible is just a tool for this purpose!

To a certain extent, you have answered your own question. The Bible points out that anyone who is unsaved or not born again CANNOT interpret the Bible as they do not have the Holy Spirit to guide them. Consider that the Bible was written over a period of 1600 years by about 44 different men. These men were guided by the Holy Spirit as to what to write. These men came from all different regions and walks of life and virtually none of them ever met each other. Moses wrote the first 5 books under the direction of the Holy Spirit and he wrote about creation, the great flood, Joseph, etc., He was never there to see all this so how else could he have known all this except the Lord revealed it all to Him. Whilst there were about 44 different writers, there was only one author being the Lord Himself. Become saved (born again) and you will discover what none of the writers knew at the time they were penning the Word of God which is that they never knew that they were writing only a part of a book. You will be amazed at just how accurate the Scriptures really are. God Bless!

For those who believe, there is always an interpretation of scripture that suites their current needs. That's the think about the bible: it can be interpreted in any way to mean anything to anybody. It is quite an agile tool in that sense.
So the response you will likely get to you questions is that you are misinterpreting what you read. This will come from others who somehow know the "true" interpretations of the bible, which is laughable.

You're wasting your time, man. Most of them couldn't even tell you what contradiction means let alone identify one when it is right in front of their eyes.
And yet another example of the Emperor's New Clothes I see, "You have to be saved (or whatever) to understand the apparent contradictions". Basically, they're not really contradictions, they just look like it unless you're spiritually enlightened.. suuuure.
I'd love to see someone in a one-to-one situation discussing these contradictions and attempting to defend the Bible's credit.

I would like nothing better than to see these "contradictions" as you call them. I am 100 percent positive that they are not contradictions, but rather just a lack of understanding the real meaning of the scriptures. But, I am not hounding you of course. I understand that you cannot understand the scriptures if you do not have God's Holy Spirit, so it's not your fault. But, I will continue to pray on behalf of you and others with beliefs similar to yours.

My mother would like to apologize to you for having dropped me on my head and thus causing you inconvenience, these many years later.
Based on the squashed and mangled brain I have been using, there are at best, only SEEMING contradictions in the Bible.
Archeology in particular has cleared-up so many of these seeming contradictions that I do not become overly concerned regarding the few remaining ones.
At least that's the view from down on the floor.

It is understandable that some feel there are contradictions in the Bible - even hundreds, as you yourself feel. It may be that some posters choose to list literally hundreds. Or perhaps even dozens. Most people have neither the time nor the inclination to attempt to address each and every one. I have never seen your exhaustive list, but maybe if you only posted two or three at the most, you might find someone perfectly willing to answer your question.

Why do we have 9 Supreme Court justices to interpret the Constitution? It's written down, so how can they possibly still be arguing over what it means, and how can they ever disagree with one another? I guess some of them must have been dropped on their heads, too.

Because they have to justify their beliefs to themselves.
Religion is based on emotional hooks that play on human insecurities. Reason doesn't really have much to do with it. That's why logical answers, evidence, and reason really don't have much affect on the converted. They can always rationalize that stuff away in favor of their emotional pacifiers. They've been indoctrinated to such an extent that they will presume that anything you say must be false, right off the start. And it is easy enough to find some religious apologist out there who has smoothed over any contradictions you come up with by "re-interpretting" the passage to a more favorable meaning. It's a self-supporting system.
