as far as we know a hominid in West Africa which we have call 'Lucy' is the first.
The Neanderthals co-existed with Cro-magnon man. Neanderthals were heavier built and it seems - not quite so bright. Therefore Cro-magnon out evolved them to become modern man

Neander Valley is where you get the term Neanderthal Man. Its based off a discovery of skull fragments found first in parts of Belgium and Germany and then elsewhere. The depictions you see of this ancient person(s) is based off of artists renderings and the various discriptions have changed over the last 100 years or so and now it is believed that indeed this was a human, by way of testing the mitochondrial DNA and not a subspecies of human, who had language skills but further still some anthropologists believe that this "giant" large boned human was as each discovered fossil relates its own charectoristics not consistant to each find, an anomoly based on regional diet, genetics and possibly even birth defects that transpired as people migrated back and forth through settled areas. These same physical traits can be found in humans today when certain conditions of growth are met such as with the condition of acromegaly, an adult endocrine disorder resulting from hypersecretion of growth hormone produced by the pituitary gland. Since the bones cannot increase in length after full growth is attained, there is a disproportionate thickening of bones, predominantly in the SKULL and small bones of the hands and feet. Fingers and toes become broadened and spadelike, the skull increases in size, and the cheek, brow and jaw bones protrude. This can be caused by a tumor of the pituitary gland which produces growth hormone. Onset of the disease can also occur in children, before the epiphyses of the bones are closed. In such cases the disorder leads to gigantism. There was a episode on 20/20 not too long ago detailing this very occurance. Now while anti-diluvial man was probably much more sturdy, taller, healthier and suffered no illness and prolly according to Bible records lived for not just a century but several hundred years they jolly well might have been more covered with body hair. Look at Robin Williams...anything is possible. There is no scientific proof that early man was unintelligent either...yet there was probably not much by way of synapsis stimulation in those days except by examining creation itself but language has been established. What language exactly and whether it was coupled with signing, mimicing or other gesturing and yes, even perhaps grunting...My husband grunts when he's too pre-occupied to come up with the energy to answer appropriately, is also quite impossible to know. Just suffice to say...there were animals, each unique to their own kind and species and etc. Then there are humans...distinctly and significantly human as created in the "image" or likeness of the Creator. Love in Christ, ~J~

I always think of adam and eve as symbolically the first humans. I don't think that eve was made literally from adam's rib etc. I think when christianity, Judaism and Islam were being formed, they had to speak in layman's terms to get people to understand and follow. I think any discussion of natural selection and single celled organisms and catalysts and DNA would have been too much information, so they did what made sense and that's to make a story about creation that would make more sense to the greatest number of people. The aim was not to confuse, but to convert people to a better way of life with moral rules and regulations about life with others. Unfortunately these details about the stories get too much attention and the purpose of the teachings gets lost. A good way to look at it is that it doesn't matter if there really was an adam or an eve or how they came to be, it matters that we treat each other and our environment with respect and expect and reciproctae civility and kindness in our everyday lives no matter what our religion or nationality.

No - God didn't need to use evolution to create Adam and Eve. According to the Bible, it doesn't mention anything about anyone being Neanderthal.
I believe that evolution limits God and that Adam and Eve looked much like we do today. I also believe that communication would have consisted of a whole lot more than grunting also. Can't say if they were hairy or not, cos there's a lot of hairy guys around today, so maybe Adam was.

No, sweetheart you are mixing up the Holy Bible with the theory of evolution. Adam and Eve were the first humans and no they were not neanderthals. They did not eat raw meat, but instead they ate refreshing fruit. Hence, the first sin, eating from the forbidden fruit tree. They were not dumb, but intelligent for they were created by an intelligent God. Yes, they could speak audibly, which is why God gave Adam the privilege of naming all the animals.

There are two ways to read the Bible. One, which is a literal interpretation, says that Adam and Eve were historical people. The 2nd, says that the Bible ("The Books" in Greek)
is not read a a science, but rather as the witness to God in the life of people and reflects on faith as it is to be lived.
Consider: Natural history is the story of human progress from the neanderthal to present, while the Bible chronicles human's decline. Different purposes reflect different styles of writing.
As the ancients experienced God in their lives, they wrote in terms that reflected their own times and places. Therefore we also find in the Bible, human emotion, opinin, cultural limitation and bias. We know that the earth is not flat and that rabbits don't chew their cud (Lev. 11:6). These are examples of time-bound understandings and practices. Biblical writers were limited by their times and world views, even as we are, and the Bible material reflects that in such scripture as that of Adam and Eve.

As the primates evolves into humans, God gave a pair (Adam & Eve) self awareness and a soul. This happened about 10,000 years ago.

You are confusing mythologies of the bible, which you have been taught are real, with scientific facts, The stories of the bible will never make sense when you apply reason & intelligence to them.
