Im upgrading my current bontrager lite wheels on my trek madone 5.0. Please have a look at the link and any information you have on these wheels would be greatly appreciated. Unfortunately I dont have the $$$$ to splash out on zipp404's , 808's or any of the Easton tempest models. Im looking to roughly spend €1000 max. Anmy other suggestions too would be great.

Im going to assume you do Tri or TT !!
('cos most people with Trek Madone's do ??)

Firstly, - I've never seen them before, let alone ridden them! They do appear pretty good for the price though and If I were looking for wheels of this type, - I would risk buying some!

I couldn't find out much info about them from your link and again I'm going to assume the rims are carbon too!

So change your brake pads or they may snatch!

My advice? - Risk it and give 'em a try!

EDIT: Having another look at the site, it does look as though they are more of a Carbon parts manufacturer, trying to break into wholesale/retail. I do like the look of their Frames, Forks and Bars!!

Very hard to say. I've never heard of them and can't find any other info. I suspect they are made in Taiwan by one of the larger manufacturers that make almost all of the carbon wheels we have herein the states. In that case, they may be a bargain.

Would you get clinchers or tubies. Just be careful because I think the weights given are for tubulars. The clinchers will probably be much heavier.

First of all, I know nothing other than what I saw on the link you provided. In fact, it is pretty much impossible to find any information on Karbona on the internet. This leads me to assume they are a first and foremost a contract manufacturer with many of their products being relabeled and sold under other brand names. As such, before buying these wheels, I'd really want to know how and where to get parts and service for them. I doubt you are going to want to directly order pieces and parts from Taiwan!

Regarding the wheels, my sense is they are heavy. If I were dropping money on a carbon wheelset, I'd expect them to weight practically nothing. (I'd hate to waste the aero advantage with extra grams of weight.)

Good luck and hope this helps.

I looked at the site and found 1 pair on EBay for $599 with sew-ups too. (used, low mileage) Even the EBay ad was sparse in info.

The company, based in Taiwan, appears to be a middleman, pretty shady to me. I'd look somewhere else.
