I'm trying to write a paper including both point of views. But I need to direct it at a certain crowds. Anyone have an ideas for this?

I'm trying to educate or inform the audience.

Try to be specific.

What the FFFFF. ? I didn't ask what global warming was. Just like lets say NASA's students are talking for global..

or THe Christian church of Jesus says it isn't real.

Some of you guys are not listening

Good question. Scientists actually fall into four groups here:

* "Warmers" or "Alarmists" are those who are true believers in global warming and they are convinced a global catastrophe is coming. These are people like Phil Jones at the Climatic Research Unit at University of East Anglia, Michael Mann, James Hansen of NASA GISS and Gavin Schmidt of RealClimate.

* "Luke Warmers" think mankind is having an impact on environment but that greenhouse gases are not the biggest impact. They think land use changes (lots of agriculture, ranching, sprawling cities and suburbs) have changed the climate as much or more than manmade greenhouse gases like CO2. These scientists include Roger A. Pielke of University of Colorado and a sizable number of his co-authors. Pielke is probably the most prolific climate scientist on the planet.

* "Skeptics" are not convinced by the science so far. They will follow the evidence but they demand the evidence be thoroughly checked first. The most important of the skeptics (and he may not call himself a skeptic himself although I think he would accept my definition) is Stephen McIntyre who writes http://www.climateaudit.org He does not belong in the category below this one. He is a statistician and he checks the numbers in climate science papers. He is the one who discredited Michael Mann in the "Hockey Stick Controversy." Other skeptics include John Christy and Roy Spencer of University of Alabama in Huntsville (these guys keep a satellite temp record), Nir Shaviv (expert on solar variation) and Hendrik Svensmark at the Danish National Space Center (expert on cosmic rays), and Stephen Schwartz at Brookhaven National Laboratory (recently wrote a paper on climate sensitivity using ocean heat content as the metric). Also Anthony Watts is important. Watts is currently leading an effort to photograph the surface station network to determine the quality of our temperature record. Go to his website at http://surfacestations.org to see pictures of weather stations positioned on top of parking lots! Based on Watts' work, it now appears up to half of the observed warming is not real but an artifact of these poorly sited stations.

* "Deniers" are the scientists who have taken money from big oil companies. People like Fred Seitz, Patrick Michaels and Steve Milloy. Many people refuse to consider their science because they have taken research funding from Exxon.

A very wide variety of people think it's real and mostly caused by us. Ron C's - warmers, which are by far the largest group.

Most all scientists (there are a few skeptics).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_opinion_on_climate_change
http://www.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/full/306/5702/1686

Every major world leader.

Many major business leaders:

http://www.us-cap.org/

Even many conservatives:

"Former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich challenged fellow conservatives to stop resisting scientific evidence of global warming"

"Pat Robertson (very conservative Christian leader) 'It is getting hotter and the ice caps are melting and there is a build up of carbon dioxide in the air. We really need to do something on fossil fuels.”

Many "skeptics" agree that the Earth is warming and Man is having a significant effect. They just don't think it will be as bad as the vast majority of scientists say it will. Ron C's "lukewarm group". Examples:

Richard Lindzen, John Christy, Roger Pielke, Sr.

People who think it's fake (also known as deniers):

Some radical right wing conservatives. A few opinion columnists. A few scientists, generally not climatologists, but some other specialty.

EDIT - Ron C's answer isn't bad. But he leaves one thing out. There are many thousands of scientists in his first group, maybe 100 in the second, and only a few in the third.

Cmon neocons-read your latest talking points for God's sake. George and Dick now say that global warming has man made factors and is real. Do you door knobs read anything or do you just listen to Rush and Sean??? You need to get on the neocon talking points mailing list so you can keep up with what your leaders want you to say. Go to WWW.neoconslatesttalkingpoints.org for your latest diatribes. And dont let it happen again.

It not 'real or fake' the debate is between man made and natural.

The Earth is warming, as it either warms or cools. There is no such thing as a static climate.

The cause however isn't man, as man has raised co2 levels about 100 parts per million, or just 0.001%, too small of a change to have any impact at all.

The Sun is the source of all heat on Earth, and like everything else in nature, the suns output is never constant. The Sun will enter into a cooler phase, and the Earth will cool as well.

If it weren't for global warming, Canada would be under a mile thick sheet of ice.

I have 5 million shares of Exxon Mobile. I know Global Warming is very real but I have to say it is "fake". I have to tell al the people that it is "fake".

I just bought a 2 million dollars house. I don't want to go broke. I know I am selfish. Please forgive me.

Here is truth about global warming:

Global warming is one-half of the climatic cycle of warming and cooling.
The earth's mean temperature cycles around the freezing point of water.
This is a completely natural phenomenon which has been going on since there has been water on this planet. It is driven by the sun.
Our planet is currently emerging from a 'mini ice age', so is
becoming warmer and may return to the point at which Greenland is again usable as farmland (as it has been in recorded history).
As the polar ice caps decrease, the amount of fresh water mixing with oceanic water will slow and perhaps stop the thermohaline cycle (the oceanic heat 'conveyor' which, among other things, keeps the U.S. east coast warm).
When this cycle slows/stops, the planet will cool again and begin to enter another ice age.

It's been happening for millions of years.

The worrisome and brutal predictions of drastic climate effects are based on computer models, NOT CLIMATE HISTORY.
As you probably know, computer models are not the most reliable of sources, especially when used to 'predict' chaotic systems such as weather.

Global warming/cooling, AKA 'climate change':
Humans did not cause it.
Humans cannot stop it.

you should notice to way those against global action to prevent global warming changed their position:
- initially they claimed there is no global warming just cyclical change in the sun levels of radiation, soon to reverse itself.
- later they claimed there is a global warming but it's effects are minimal and even beneficial.
- lately they agree to the reality and dangers of global warming, but claim there is a need for very little action to prevent it.
it also should be noticed that there is great economic interest in non action to prevent CO2 emissions, especially from producers of oil and coal.

The very educated crowd don't think Global Warming is real, they know it's real.

The crowd that don't think Global Warming is real are the uninformed.

Now is the time to start thinking green. Leonardo Dicaprio has an important message in the following website.

http://www.leonardodicaprio.org/whatsimportant/globalwarming_movie01.htm

Hope you all have speakers to hear his message.

I'm trying to do my part by encouraging everyone to have at least one live plant in each room, especially if it's air conditioned. If you want to know the best plants? Please use NASA's Clean Air Plant Study as a guide. It can be found at: http://www.zone10.com/tech/NASA/Fyh.htm

Liberally indoctrinated moonbats think it's real(the man can change it part).
The rest of us are skeptical(that includes scientists not on the UN payroll)

right wing people think it's not caused by man, left wing people think it is. if you give a speech to the NRA, i'd say go against. if you give a speech to BP or Shell, same same. if you give a speech to educated intelligent people, they will believe it is real and man made.
