I have been interviewing for a position at work offering a good salary / package and great working enviourment.
This position has been really difficult to fill as while the role needs a good level of mixed skills, it is demanding.

I'm finding that most people coming for the interview only wish to have a 9-5 job and an easy life so do people these days want a career and put thier heart and soul into it or just an easy job to pay the bills ?

I believe you need to ask a diferent question; let me explain. In life, the main goal is to find a trade, an activity, a job that aligns with your strengths and your passion. The statement "follow your heart" summarizes this principle. The moment you align your passion with what you do for a living, you will not have to work another day in your life, because the job will be bring you pleasure and monetary rewards beyond your wildest dreams. Please take the time to read Michael Dell, Bill Gates bios as two examples of this principle.

Best wishes to you and "live with passion".

A bit of each... I love my life and my family, but I also love my job, and want to do it to the best of my ability. The thing is to have the right balance. Even a job you love should not take over your life. Perhaps the job you're offering seems like people won't be able to maintain that balance. I fthat's the case, perhaps you should review what you're expecting from people because your employees will burn out if you demand too much.

Good luck!

I work to live. When I am at work, I always try to do my best. There is a good feeling at the end of the day when you know you did your best on the job. You can go home feeling good. I work with the public and it can be tough at times. But it can also be very rewarding. I like the interacting with people and trying my best to help them. But I must admit that I work to live. My true joys are in what I do once I get home. My passion is in my creative hobbies, working on the internet and my family. My home is a peaceful and wonderful place to be. I go to work because I have to but I try to be the best that I can be at work. I love that feeling at the end of a work day, knowing that I have did my best on the job too.

Most people will work to live, do you know anyone who would still do the job if they did not get paid? would you?
But you then have the devotion to work, to do your best, to have the best life you can, as you are at work most of the time you need to enjoy it or your life is a long slog with every day watching the clock waiting till you are free again. How bad is that.

i would say work to live as everyone needs to have a personal life. I do however put the additional hours in when needed. some early starts, late finishes and even odd weekends.

I am considering a career change. What kind of position are you trying to fill?

Work to Live............it's a reflection upon society.

Careers are a thing of the past and reflect upon how employers have/now treat employees.
No final salary pensions - expect you to work outside of 9-5 for no extra pay regardless of the impact upon your quality of family life.

That said there are still a few of us around that would meet your thoughts and requirements................what is the job....let me know.

I love to work but my work needs to be flexible to fit around my children.
My boss if wonderful, generous with patience, knowledge and time - in return I give everything I can to help him and support him.
When I was a manager I traeted people the same as he treats me and my staff responded the same way.
Personally I want a job to enjoy, put myself into and still allow me to breathe...

Most of the population works to live. Most employers want employees to live to work. It's a shame because when one lives to work, life passes by without having really lived fully.
