My kittens are about a month and a half old and my room is in the basement of my house. I was in the living room half watching a movie, i had the lights off because i could see a shine in the tv and my window was open. So i stepped on a chair to close the window cuz its a little high up and when i stepped down from the chair i accidentally stepped on one of my kittens. It started rolling around the ground in circles and it was bleeding from its mouth, now i dont know where i stepped on it but im guessing its mouth. There's an overnight vet down the road from my house so i drove there as fast as i could, i probably got there within five minutes or less. Now, the doctor said that he couldn't feel any broken bones anywhere and that he gave it some medicine and its in an oxygen tank. I just want to know if this has happened to anyone before and after 24 hours did the cat survive, the doctor wasn't sure and im a nervous wreck, please somebody help.

Update: The doctor called me this morning... the cat didn't make it. I feel so bad like there was something more i could do i just don't know what and it drives me crazy because i really hoped that it lived. I love my cats, half of them were born with out tails, and this one had a short tail that curved to the side and it was the first time ive ever seen one like that so i planned on keeping it. But anyways, I have to pick up the cat from the vet tonight so I can bury it. :'-(

At that age you could have unfortunatly done a significant amount of damage, by the sounds of it bleeding from its mouth I would think you did something to its chest cavity (lungs, heart etc) and if she was having difficulty breathing then thats why she would be on the oxygen tank ... she could also suffer from a neurological disorder (which is why she was rolling around) only time will tell. Its hard to say really since im not there, but as comfort note you did do the right thing by rushing her into the vets .. and i have seen way worse - I pray shes going to be ok. Im sorry

Kittens do get in the way, they are so fast.I keep my kitten,Batty,in a large dog cage when I can't keep an eye on her,and at night. My cousin had a little kitten once, and she was rocking in a rocking chair and the kitten went under it.She didn't know it and rocked on it's head.It had to be euthanized because it had severe brain damage. She felt so bad.You were right to get the kitten to a vet,but you still might lose it.It sounds to me like a chest or abdominal injury. You never know, though,it may be OK. And,may I suggest ( kindly) that you have your cat spayed and the kittens as well,to avoid any more unwanted kittens. I hope the kitten survives.

My friend's kitten jumped off the arm of the couch and landed on his head and died. That was nobody's fault either and I'm saying this just to let you know that kittens can have accidents all by themselves, too.
Kittens seem to be everywhere all a once so it is difficult NOT to step on them, but it is more serious when you're stepping down from something. You could have caused the kitten to bite his tongue or he could have an internal problem that is not evident yet. You did the right thing by taking the kitten to the vet, and he will be your best resource as to what to expect and any lasting effects of the accident.

I'm sorry to hear you stepped on your kitten. Did the vet take any x-rays to rule out broken bones? I would guess its possible that the kitten bit its tongue/cheek when you stepped on it and that is why it was bleeding from the mouth. Good job on getting him to the vet right away. I've never had this happen since we have always had our cats spayed when we got them and never had to raise kittens. Assuming nothing vital was damaged, I don't see why the kitten can't survive something like this. Good luck with the kitten.

I stepped on a kitten about that age once. He was like a little duck, always following me, and I tripped one day and landed on him. He didn't bleed, but he did seem in a sort of daze for about a day. After about 2 days he was pretty much back to normal.
At around 1 year old he turned on me out of nowhere. He would still follow me, but would attempt to attack if I so much as looked at him. He had to be put down, because we were worried about our and our other pets safety. My mother believes that he had some sort of brain damage. Though we were never sure if it was from stepping on him or if he was born that way. (He was orphaned and I raised him from 3 weeks old.)
I'm not trying to scare you in any way. That's just my experience, and I think you should know the possiblities. Again, it wasn't until he was 1 year old that he went crazy on us. Good luck with your kitten. I hope he has a long healthy life.
Edit - I'm so sorry about your kitten. :(

So sorry to hear about the accident with your kitten. You did the right thing getting him to the vet immediately, that surely will improve his chances for recovery. In the future, it would probably be a good idea to put on a nightlight or turn on the lights when you walk around in the dark with kittens. They are so small and fragile, and they turn up in the darndest places. Best wishes for your kitten's full recovery!

something like that happend with a kitten we had.. our cat had kittens and they always liked to lay in front of the fridge.. i think cuz its warm there.. well i thoguth i got them out of the way but one went back while i was oppening the fridge door and it got stuck and "dragged" under the door.. it started like spazzing like a seizure and couldnt stop.. we took it to the vet and he gave it a shot to stop its seizure and it calmed it down a lil bit, but it started up even worse and the vet said there was nothing else to do, he thought its brain was hemmoraging and even the slight chance it survived it would be a "vegetable" so it had to be put to sleep :(
