I got Maggie almost 11 years ago;she was three weeks old and abandoned at my brother's business by a girl who said she was a pit bull/ Rott/GSD.My vet and I have decided that she is most likely a St.Bernard/Boxer/Border Collie, with maybe a bit of Corgi ( who knows?) She's about 22 inches tall and weighs 74 lbs.Her hair is normally thicker and longer, but her summer haircut hasn't grown all the way out yet.She used to have a black mask, but it has turned white as she has aged. So,what do you think she is?

Well,I KNOW she's a mutt,I just wonder what breeds she has in her.I don't think Husky, she looks like it with her white face, but it used to be black.

Oh,I'm not worried enough to do a DNA test, just curious as to what others think. She is a good girl,a little temperamental, and a food hound, but still, very sweet,

I don't see pitbull, either,it was the girl who left her who said that.I shave her in the summer because her hair is so thick that she sheds like a maniac. She's a house dog,and we have air conditioning,so she's fine.I keep it long for the rest of the year.

Granted, she does have weight issues, but she is not "grossly obese." She is an 11 year old spayed female and she is naturally thick-set as it is.I pride myself in the way that I care for my dogs, and she is not "grossly obese." Here is a "grossly obese" dog.

Your dog looks healthy and happy to me! Who cares what anyone else thinks? I think she's cute!

I almost peed myself laughing at the picture of the grossly obese dog! Hahahhahaa! Looks like a harbor seal.

You may never know for sure what Maggie might be. She is one of those mixes where it's very difficult to find any discernible breed traits, most likely because both her parents were mixed breeds as well.

I can see the guess that she may be part Border Collie. To me, she has Collie ears and a Collie face, especially in the older photo. I could see some German Shepherd in there as well with the standing ears and the black on the tail in the puppy picture.

Actually, in the puppy photo she looks a lot like the dog in that Pedigree commercial - the one with the "zipper top" dog food bag. I don't know what type of dog that is in the commercial, but maybe you could email Pedigree and ask them, or find out online, as a possible clue to what might be in Maggie.

On a side note, you said that her hair is normally longer but she's gotten a summer haircut. Could I please advise you not to cut her hair for summer? The hair coat, especially on double-coated dogs serves to protect them from the heat by trapping air between the layers of fur. A dog is actually better off with all the hair (and frequent brushing to get rid of loose undercoat) than with a trim.

She's very mixed...but I would guess shepard and maybe a little collie? I don't see pit bull or st bernard. As a puppy I sort of see the boxer...but not as an adult. Now that there is DNA testing available, I would look into that if you really are interested on knowing what breeds are in her.

If you really must know why don't you try one of the new DNA tests that can tell you the breed makeup of your dog? I bet she's probably got at least three or four breeds in there - which is probably why she's still with you at 11. Mixed breeds tend to be much healthier than purebreds.

I read where they have developed a DNA test so that you can know for sure what breeds are in a mix. You might want to google it. It was just announced last week. I can see some characteristics of each breed you mentioned, and I'm afraid I can't ad anything constructive to your guesses. She looks like a sweet girl though, and you're lucky to have her.

she is grossly obese.. can you feel her ribs at all? I bet not. Even with a thick dog at a healthy weight, you can feel the ribs. There is also no tuck up to her belly at all. For her height, she should probably be about 40-50 pounds. That is ALOT of extra weight for a dog to be carrying.. its the equivelant of you carrying an extra 100-150 pounds!

The last pic you posted of a "grossly obese dog" is photoshopped.

That's a stumper - I see some collie of some sort in her face and ears, but I have nothing else to give you. She's a gorgeous dog, though. Whatever she's mixed with, she's mixed WELL.

I think she's adorable ;)
