What does your VET say? There is such a thing as antihistimine toxicity as an obviously well-informed answerer mentioned above me. It CAN KILL your dog. Ask a vet.

Dose Of Benadryl For Dogs

2016-10-06 11:53:37 · answer #2 · answered by ? 4 · 0 0

Vets will recommend Benadryl for allergies in dogs at a dose of 1 mg/ lb. of body weight, so 14 mg. The capsules you can buy over the counter are typcially 25mg, or about twice what would be given.

But, as others have suggsted, you should first ask your vet to make sure that's an appropriate medication for whatever problem your dog has. They should be the first person you consult for health-related issues that your pet may have. No one here can either diagnose a condition or prescribe medication, only share whatever information they might have.

Call a 24 hour animal hospital. They would be able to give you the exact dosage needed. Considering my Golden lab can have 1 to 1 1/2 pills, I would think the dosage would be around 1/4 tsp.

Oh *sigh*, don't listen to all these posts freaking out. You know what's best for your dog, and your intentions aren't murderous. So give him the dose, or call the 24 hour clinic, if you want a precise dose.
Everyone else needs to calm down. She's asking about benadryl, not Buthenasia.

The dose is 2-4 mg/kg. 14lbs = 6.36kg, so your dog can have anywhere between 12 - 24 mg of diphenhydramine. I'm not sure what the concentration is of the children's benadryl, but it should say on the bottle. Erring on the lower end of the dose is best to start with, you can always give him a little more later. You can use this much 2 or 3 times a day, again erring on the lesser amount if it works.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://biturl.im/aU8Wx

A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

I have given my rat terrior 1/2 a adult size benadryl . She has a rash that itches her and that works well I would think a childrens 12 year old dose would work good.

Why do you want to give your dog Benadryl? Talk to your veterinarian to see if there are any medications that are made for pets that would be a better option. If they feel that Benadryl is the best medication for your pet's condition, then they will be able to give you the correct dose.

Scroll down to diphenhydramine.Make sure it's just the Benadryl Elixer, with nothing else added, like acetaminophen or a decongestant, which CAN kill your dog.

DO NOT give your dog Benedryl without talking to your vet. You risk your dog DYING of Antihistimine Toxicity... Benedryl is NOT a benign drug. It is just like any other drug and can KILL your dog.

People who give you dosages and encourage you to give your dog Benedryl without discussing it with your vet, should not be answering questions. This is serious.. You could KILL your dog.. Ask around... people's dogs have died or gotten very very ill from giving Benedryl on the advice of people who are just pet owners, rather than talking to their VET.
