Do they have an empty void that only God can fill?

2007-10-09 13:50:52 · 17 answers · asked by Naturescent 4 in Society & Culture Religion & Spirituality

And since atheists are reaching out to Christians, could it be that they are struggling between good and evil?

If they were on YA to learn about cultures, they would ask under that section. If they wanted to know about science, they would ask under that section.

Since they're asking in the Religious section, it appears that they want to know more about God. Otherwise, wouldn't they ask a question in the area that they are looking for an answer to?

That is what this site is about - asking questions for answers and answering questions that you have the answer to.

Thin Kaboudit, I hope that your reason for searching and posting on this forum becomes reality for you. God is very real to those who open their heart and let Him in so He can fill their life with His everlasting Love.

Ephesians 2
1 And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, 2 in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, 3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.

1 Corinthians 15:22
For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.

1 Corinthians 15:45
And so it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being.” The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.

Acts 28:27
For the hearts of this people have grown dull.
Their ears are hard of hearing,
And their eyes they have closed,
Lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears,
Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn,
So that I should heal them.

Your question is an answer to one of my prayers I had today. I've had such a burden for these people since I started answering questions in September '07, and prayed for someone to ask a question so I would have an opportunity to answer it.

I search the Religion & Spirituality section each day for questions I feel are from people who are honestly seeking an answer. Some of the questions I see posted are so mocking of our Lord & Savior that I move past them to others. Some others are so cleverly disguised that you don't know it's been posted by an aethist until you click on the question to answer it, and read their inflammatory statements, not really questions at all.

From my personal experience, I don't feel they are trying to find God, just using R&S as a forum to impress each other with their clever comments. However, I do feel that maybe, just maybe one or more of them will repent and accept Jesus as their Lord & Savior, as long as we keep proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ and do not get discouraged.

Thank you for posting this question. God bless you!!.

You are right, this is why they "target" Christians even when it's a question that any Abrahamic believer could answer.

My theory is that Christ pushes their buttons big time, much more than Allah or Yahweh. For that reason, I think He is real to them at a subconscious level. Perhaps it's the Holy Spirit loose in the world that convicts them in their hearts. Whatever the reason, they seem to be unable to stay away from the very thing they hate. We're like an obsession with them.

It's sad. God bless you.

Most of the atheists here have made a conscious decision about NOT believing in God (or Gods for that matter)

I have no need to find the God of Abraham as I have Gods of my own that I am VERY happy with. (This covers the question you will almost definately ask on this subject concerning the Wiccans and Pagans who are also here)

No.

Are theists who are asking & answering in the Religion & Spiritual section trying to find sanity?

Do they have an empty void that only sanity can fill?

No actually I am quite content with my life thank you for asking. I come here to learn and be educated about other people's religions. That doesn't necessarily mean that I want to believe what you do.

Also there is this law called freedom of speech.

no. we are simply trying to tell the world of our views and reasonings, just as all the other religions do. we are all here on this world and in order to one day all live in harmony, we must understand different and/or opposing views on a path to acceptance. the reason we are athiests is because in our hearts we know there is not a god. we are fine with that. there is no void in us that we cannot fill by family, friends, creative expression, and so forth. but the voice of god is not one of them. rest assured.

Is there any reason that an atheist shouldn't look to see if maybe new evidence has arisen? "God" (at least the NT version) would be GREAT if "He" were real. We certainly wouldn't have had 9/11, and babies wouldn't get cancer any more!

No. That's not the case, however you may try to persuade yourself.

Did you notice that you have "atheist" in your question? Whom do you think would respond?

No, we're just trying to keep Christ-folk on their toes.

No, thank you.

It's you who has a void, and you've decided to fill it up with the gas of delusion....
