I agree with you that it becomes very difficult for patients to stay on salt free diet, but the food he is consuming already is good enough for maintaining his BP under control. So it is pretty risky to GO for those cosmetic diet available in the stores.
In my humble opinion he will have to learn to stay with it, Sorry you cannot add extra pinch of salt,as already has 2 stents.
Hope answered your question.

you can't, I have 3 stents, salt causes your blood vessels to swell because they absorb fluid. When your blood vessels swell, they narrow, if they are already blocked, they could close off altogether and cause another heart attack. Start using Lemon juice instead, also, Mrs Dash works well, in time, he will not even notice that he is not usuing salt. Be sure to read all labels because some foods have extremely high amounts of sodium. All natural is the way to go.

Didn't the doctor say NO sodium? Well, that means that you throw away the salt shakers & use Mrs. Dash (sodium free) & other spices. (it's "introduce") Perhaps your husband & you should speak with a registered dietician so you know what foods your husband can/can't eat. Learn to read labels wehn shopping. So many foods contain a high sodium content & you want to stay away from these foods.

there are products on the market such as "DASH' which contains no sodium but do add flavor to foods. chances are that you may never be able to have sodium though. the choice is- salt or life? your decision.
