We've been worried about what to make going well with beer, so I thought, hey! Why not make the tailgate with an oktoberfest type of theme to the food?

Great suggestions here! Here are some ideas as well:

1. A variety of german bologna's, Cheese Stuffed Brats or Kielbasa, and regular Brats in beer (boil in onion/beer mixture and then grill), along with cheeses such as kassheri, horseradish cheddar, and havarti, served with several mustards and rolls.
2. Vegetable beef soup (beer based) in case its cold (serve in mugs, store in thermos's)
3. Cole slaw and potato salads (german or otherwise)
4. Apple turnovers (or streudal); brownies with caramel and fudge frosting; oatmeal cookies.
5. Flavored beers from the micro breweries; hot cider with cinnamon stix; hot cocoa with homemade marshmallows.
